I only recently discovered the Fraats link to my Mereness family. They were from Schoharie County, NY. If I find I link between my Fraats & your Fraats, I'll let you know. Thanks Jim!

Hi Jim
I have just seen your posting.
My 4x great-grandfather was Heinrich (Henry) Fraats - he was born in Sharon, Schoharie NY 5 March 1759 - he was a United Empire Loyalist who came to Canada - he died on the 23 September, 1849 in Williamsburg Township, Ontario.
I believe his father was Hendrick? and was born in 1720 and died in 1814 in Sharon, Schoharie NY.
When they came to Canada they changed the name to Froats - which was my maiden name.
I have been unable to go back any further.
How does this fit with what you have?
I have lots of info after they arrived in Canada.
Linda

I've just notice this posting and believe I've traced my mom's family to Heinrich Fratts (Fretz), father Henry Fratts 1740 and mother Elizabeth Catrina. Could you forward me information about after they arrived in Canada. Just want to make sure I'm on the right track!!
This would be greatly appreciated!!
Cheers
Kim

Hi Kim
I knew I would run into someone close eventually. Are you Thelma's daughter? I am Lyal's daughter - guess we are cousins.
I have quite a bit of stuff which I'd love to share.
Cheers
Linda

Hi Linda,
I am truly shocked!!!
I started this whole family tree business to give to Mom for her 65th birthday this year!! I can not believe where it's taken me. Because there was such a difference in birth years for Mom and her brothers and sisters she didn't have a great deal of information. I see Aunt Pauline quite a bit and she and mom keep intouch!
I don't believe I've ever met you but I did meet Terry a couple of times. I remember your Dad visiting when we were kids...always had candy for us!! Your Mom and Bob were at my wedding years ago!!
Would love to hear from you!!!
Cheers
Kim
