FOAT(E): 1830s England > 1880s Australia > New Zealand
I have so far only traced back to Samuel Foat married to Rachel Harvey and had a son Frederick Harvey FOAT b 1837 Brighton England. He married Mary Ann Bailey and had a son Frederick James Foat b 15 Oct 1880 Rylstone New South Wales Australia. He married Emily May Livingstone and came to Christchurch New Zealand. They had two sons, Alan Harvey Foate, b 25 Oct 1914 (the E was added by his mother although he is Foat on his birth cert.), and Montague Frederick Foate b 1909. If you obtain any information regarding this line of the family I would be very interested.

Re: FOAT Origins in East Kent, England (1500s+)
Hello, Just read your message. I was doing some research on my Harrison family, when I saw the 1881 census for Eliza Ann Harrison, on it was also: Lizzie Foat b. 1869 Margate Robert William Foat b. 1865 Margate Elizabeth Foat b. 1847 they were listed as cousins to Eliza. Trying hard to find the connection. I saw that Lizzie Foat died in 1887 age 18. No trace of Robert Foat or Elizabeth Foat. Is this part of your family? ~Elaine

Re: FOAT Origins in East Kent, England (1500s+)
Hi Elaine, I have been researching Foats for some years. My great great grandfather was Richard Foat b.1800 Margate who married Mary Goodale. His father was Stephen Foat + Ann Leatt and I have traced back to 1690 Jeffery Foat = Elizabeth Unknown
I wonder if your records which go further back are any connection to mine.
Should be interested to know Sincerely Brenda Smith
