I have some information on the Foans and Riddles. How is your surname Riddle? I am a Riddle by birth. My greatuncle married someone who had a connection with the Foan family (they were second cousins). I have connections to the Riddle family of Pattingham near Birmingham, England. I also have connections to the Foan family of Yeovil, England. My grandfather's mother was a Foan. Her father was Alfred Foan. Alfred Foan immigrated to Australia from England in the early 1900's. If you forward me your email and details of your history we can exchange charts.

Hope to hear from you soon.

I too am related to the Foans of Yeovil who were glovers. Alfred Foan was the father, Alfred Foan the son who moved to London and who is the grandfather to my grandfather. I could not get any previous information about the Foans before Yeovil. Please contact me with your info. Daniel Foan is my great great great great uncle.

Hi,Cheryl
Thanks for message.I have recorded Alfred Foan c.5th.August1860 son of Fred Mary.
My great grandfather Thomas was born Yeovil 24th April 1859. Interresting fact both Alfred and Thomas are missing from 1881 census in UK. They were cousins I am sure and similar ages perhaps they were abroad together? Please email me foan_new.uk@excite.co.uk
We can exhange more information.
Regards Alan.

Hi, Cheryl, and thanks for writing on the message board. I recently have had both knees totally replaced, so I have been in bed most of the past 6 months...just not up to being a very good message board "returner". I know my geneology should be MUCH more of a priority, but I just have felt pretty "punk" lately. Yes..My birth name is Foan and I married Gregory Riddle..dont know if related to the Riddles in Birmingham, England. BUT I guess you read the other posts in this Foan Message Board and saw that my family IS conected to the Foans from Yeovil..I will try to be more steadfast in my correspondance ..Please email me and I will try to oblige you with more info..Where are you living? I am near St. Louis Missouri...USA. Email address Riddleandcompany@aol.com

Hi Cheryl
I was a Riddle prior to my marriage and my forebears came from Pattingham to Australia. John Riddle was born in 1836 and married Agnes Cooper in St Chads and they lived at Westbeach Farm in Pattingham before coming to Australia in 1864. His parents were James Riddle and Elizabeth Stafford. I have all sorts of info about the Riddles after they arrived in Australia and also info from the gravestones in Pattingham, but I don't go any further back than that. Wondering if there is any connection?
Cynthia

hi, i've no direct connection with the foan family, but as a collector of various victorian items, i have recently picked up a stoneware flagon (1/2 gal) impressed 'frederick foan wine & spirit merchant yeovil . it was probably made around 1870. does this tie-in with any details you have about your family.
