Fleming Family in Clay County FL 1890s - Memoirs

I received a copy of the Clay County (Florida) County Line Extra newspaper yesterday (Dec 29, 2005) and there was a wonderful article entitled "2 little Fleming girls enjoyed perfect 1890s Christmas season".

It told of the holiday celebrations and traditions of the family in the 1890s.

Included in the article were the following names:

*Frederic and Margot Fleming and their chidren Margaret "Mardy" Seton (under age 10), Mary "Bubbles" Augusta (under age 10), and a new baby brother

*Marie Adelaide Lienau (Margot's French mother)

*Uncle Frank (girls' uncle I believe) and his wife Lydia with their 3 children Frank Jr., Seton, and Elizabeth (all of Jacksonville)

*Margaret Seton Fleming (girls' grandmother) - Episcopal Church was built by and named in honor of her

*Aunt Tissie

*Mrs. Brown (lived down the road)

*Pompey (former Fleming slave)

I am going to scan and save the article so if anyone would like copies, please let me know. The acknowlegements state: "The Unreturning Tide" by Margaret Seton Fleming Biddle

The photograph is of the Fleming Home at Hibernia Plantation that was built in 1856 by Lewis and Margaret Seton Fleming that replaced the original structure that burned to the ground late in the Seminole Wars.

I recently read MARGARET'S STORY, by Eugenia Price, now out of print and available only at Amazon.com and have visited the church and cemetery where most of these people are buried. I would certainly appreciate a copy of this article.

The Margaret Seton Fleming mentioned in the article could not have been the grandmother. That Margaret Seton died in 1878.

This should yield several articles with pictures by Mary Jo McTammany.
