My great great grandmother was Mary Tarring born in devon england in1824 she married George Flashman born 1820 in Modbury.Looking for info on both sides of the family Thanks to anyone who can help Marilyn

Flashman and Froude families came from or near the parish of Modbury in Devon. Also the Sloman and Tarring families. John Flashman Sloman and Flora Selina Tarring married in Sydney 1.1.1872 and left for Auckland where with a BA degree from Sydney University he became a schoolmaster. They were both born in Devon.

Hannah Elizabeth Fanaway was James Froude Flashman's second wife. He married Catherine Agnes Morrow in 1849. They had a daughter Kate Sylvester Flashman, my ancestor in 1850. Catherine died in 1853 aged 25. James married Hannah E in 1854. They had 5 children.

Kate Syslvester Flashman married Alfred Tremain, their son Alfred married Emily Spier.

I think I replied top this earlier. Anyways, yes Ethel Noall was my Aunt. Her parents were Matthew Noall and Rose Edith Flashman.

Did your Flora Selina Tarring had a sister called Mary Jane Tarring. Mary Jane Tarring born in Plymouth, Devon in 1845 and her father was James Tarring - any of your Tarrings connect with mine?

Mary Jane Tarring born 1845 is the daughter of James Tarring & Mary Crocker who were 1st cousins. Mary Jane is my 1st cousin 3 times removed. Mary's father's brother is my ancestor.

I was given the name of John Quirk in New Zealand as the researcher of these families, and Isent him some information, but I haven't received a reply.
John Flashman Sloman & Flora Selina Tarring married 1.1.1872 St James Church Sydney.
Flora Selina came to Australia with her parents & 2 siblings on board the ship "Hamlet" which left Plymouth 30.8.1849 and arrived 30.12.1849.

John Flashman Sloman came here with his parents and 2 sibling on the ship "Bank Of England" which arrived here 8.10.1852. Flora and I are 3rd cousins 3 times removed. My Mother is a "Tarring"

Flora's sister married John Flashman Sloman's cousin, Charles Oldrey Flashman.

My greatgrandfather John Flashman Sloman, married my greatgrandmother Flora Selina Tarring around 1870 in Plymouth, Devon. They then migrated to Australia and shortly thereafter to New Zealand. More than this I don't know but there seem to be other link-ups between Flashmans and Tarrings in this period in Devon. Any further info. would be appreciated.

I have known John & Meryl for over 20 years, and we have met and given each other details on the "Flashman" family. I am missing a lot of surnames of the spouses and I would like to get a copy of the tree if possible rather than keep bugging John all the time for details. That way I could just go through the tree and put into my tree what I have missing.
My mother's maiden name is Tarring and three Tarring girls married three Flashman's.

I think I have a photo of a Flashman grave from the Bangkok Protestant Cemetery in Thailand - a Harry Flasman if I remember correctly!
