MENZI, Barbara Lou 81, of Springfield, Ohio passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2013 in the Springfield Regional Medical Center.

She was born on August 12, 1932 in Springfield, Ohio the daughter of Delbert and Evelyn (Croft) Flack.

Barbara was an independent person.

She worked several years during the late 50's through the mid 60's at Bach's Children Clothing Store in Springfield.
Having been an entrepreneur she owned and operated a corner market on Linden and Southern Ave. in the 70's and later was highly successful selling Avon Cosmetic Supplies.

Barbara was a natural sales person and served the community well with her gifts.

Later in life after being stricken with blindness at the age of 45 she kept her independence. Barbara went to the Idaho School for the Blind and learned many self-sustaining life skills.

She was so gifted that she taught herself braile and could memorize names, places, and numbers.
She was an avid card player and hated to lose but enjoyed the challenge.

Bingo and euchre were her favorite pastime games.

After learning to live with blindness she would listen to books on tape and was always a diligent learner.

She was gregarious, making many friends most recently her beloved community at Villa Park. Barbara was known for her creativity, her wit, and people loved going to her events.

She is survived by her two daughters: Carolyn (John) Schenkenberger of Stockport, Ohio; and Susan Denisi of Springfield, Ohio; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and several nieces and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Daniel Menzi in 2012, three sisters, and three nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME .
Friends may call from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
