I am researching my family from Essex, England, where the Flacks are more numerous than elsewhere. This is quite a rare name even though it goes back to the 1300's in England. James married Sarah Sapsford in 1873 and I am still searching for his father.

I am looking for Rachael Flack who was the first wife of my ancester Edward Boyle. Rachael was found as the mother of Edward Boyle, Jr born 5 Jul 1848 Barnstaple, DEV. The only other record of her existance is her death at age 34 on 12 JAN 1857 Llanelly, Crickhowell, Brecon. Any bells ringing?

WOW!!!! This is the FIRST mention I've had to the name and the location. Let's see, my line is traced back thru my grandmother, her mother was the daughter of Sara Maria Cowley, b. Sussex, England, married George Daniel Flack in Detroit, MI, b. Essex, England, (Father's name was also George Daniel). George Daniel (the younger)somehow ended up working for the US mint in San Francisco. George Daniel and Sara, we believe, 8 children, the first was born is Detroit, 3 born in Wilmington, S.C., and the rest in San Francisco.

We have a copy of the pictures of George Daniel (the elder) and his wife. Very impressive looking people, he was a very large man, looked quite well off, a businessman, or banker perhaps.

Any of this ring a bell? I sure hope so, I've run into so many dead ends so far, it's really getting frustrating.

I can find no link to your Flacks but them seem to have been numerous in Essex. I have the 1881 Census CD and some villages have Flacks in every other house.

Hi, I've been browsing this site and am very
interested in everybody's research on Flacks.
Despite my presence in asia, the rest of my
family all lives in Essex. Indeed, they have
been there for many generations, as far as I
know. If there's any help I can give you, by
all means let me know and I can try to ask my
family (I believe there is a family bible
going back many many years with the birth
dates of many Flack family members). Feel
free to give my e-mail contact to anyone else
who is involved in a similar search. Who
knows what interesting facts we may unearth?

Many thanks and best wishes,

Stuart Flack

I have a family history dating back to 1738
when Ambrose Flack was born in Wendens Ambo, Essex. His descendants are in Surrey,Kent,Somerset,Australia and New Zealand. My father was born in Aveley, Essex. Am I related to any of you?

No evident connection but there were very many Flacks in the county of Essex (and still are today). It seems to have been the origin of the name and goes back several hundred years in that area. Some villages in the 1881 cencus have Flacks in virtually every other house.

There is a possible connection. My line goes back to Little Hallingbury (not far from Wendens Ambo) in the late 1700's. My father was born in Southend (not far from Aveley). Could be worth comparing family trees.

From my own research, I have realised there are more Flacks in Essex than in any other part of the UK. They go back so far that I have never been able to find any evidence of immigration to support the Germanic tenor of the name. I have found Flacks in England as far back as 1300. It is interesting so let's keep it going.
