I am looking for information on A. A. Flach, a stone artist in Kalamazoo. MI, who created the stonework around Nazareth College in Kalamazoo, MI. I am not sure when the stonework was done, perhaps in the 1930s. I am researching this for a friend who lives across the street from the former Nazareth College.

I'm not going to be of any help at this point, but I find your post very interesting. Many of the Flachs came from Canada and immigrated into Michigan (including my grandmother). Protasius Flach (Canada - 3rd great grandfather) lived in a stone house in Canada(still standing) & his headstone is a work of art. Could be nothing. The Flachs are also very inter-married with the Sauers - I know at least one was a stone mason. Hope the Michigan relatives are monitoring the board as well as Phillip Hauser from Canada who has extensive knowledge.

I'll be watching to see if you find anything. If you do (outside of Ancestory), please let us know.

Jean
PS - Phillip, I know you are monioring this board. Just wondering if you've seen the stain glass window with the Flach name embedded into it...looks like 1604 and possibly made in Germany?
