Hi Debbie,
Dick Lekang (relekang@usfamily.net) does lookups in the Richland County History book, Copyright 1977. There are two Hoel entries that might be helpful:
Erick Hoel, born in 1/13/1838 in Rennebo, Norway and came to USA in 1868. He passed away in 9/20/1927.
Ingebrigt Hoel, born 8/17/1872 in Abercrombie, ND (son of Erick).
I'm looking for Gjertrude (Hoel) Fossum born 2/24/1846 in Norway, married in 1872 to Andrew Fossum. A couple of my Fossum relatives married members of the Flaa family.
Good luck.
Susan

Susan,
Thankyou for the information. I have been in contact with Dick and he has helped a great deal.
I don't recognize the name you are looking for but if I run into it I will let you know.
Good luck to you also,
Debbie

I don't know how much I can help, but, my maiden name is Flaa, and I grew up about 4 miles from Galchutt. What else do you need?

My grandmother wrote alot for the Richland County historical book. Her maiden name was Alexander and married Emil Flaa. We lived 1/2 across the field from one of the Hoel ffamilies. Let me know if there is any other info you need.

Surnames: FOSSUM, MYHRE, HOEL
My grandmother's half-brother, Gust O. Fossum (1888 - ), married Bordelie "Birdie" Flaa (1891 - 1962). Are they any relation to your grandmother?

I pretty much need everything. My information stops at Ole and Marit on the Flaa side. They had 2 or 3 kids, 1 of which is my great grandma, Emma. Emma married Ole Klubberud and had 6 children, my grandma, Mae being the last. Here's where I get messed up, my great-aunt Jen married Leonard Flaa. So there are alot I can't tell if I am really related to.
Thanks
Debbie

OK, this is so cool!! You kind of lost me right away, but I know Geneva, who married Leonard. I actually graduated with their grandson. I can email their address to you if these are the samen people. They live by Galchutt, Abercrombie, and the Wahpeton area.

I'm not really sure, but I could have you get ahold of my parents. My dad would be able to fill you in on alot.

Yep, that's her, Geneva, she also goes by Jen. I have talked to her on the phone and can't tell me too much. Brian and my dad are pretty good friends, but he really doesn't know too much either. See this is where it gets tough, because I could go with Leonard's Flaa side and never know it was the wrong side. I need more info on Geneva's Flaa side. Brick wall.
