One of my great-grandfathers went by the name of Knut Fjetland, who moved to Iowa from Norway in 1888. His sister, Hannah, located in Minnesota. The family name Fjetland appears to be an anglo form of the name Ffetzana, which was listed as the family name on the 1890 census for Knut and his family. Knut and his wife, Ingeborg, settled in Ellsworth, Hamilton County, Iowa. Knut's sister Hannah married a Swenson (or Swensen) in Minnesota. Knut had children names Paul, Gustave, Conrad, Sophia, Selma (Millie), Dena, Olaf, Henry and Ida. Dena, Olaf, Henry and Ida were born in the USA. The older children were born in Norway. It appears that the family migrated to the USA from Stavanger, Norway. We do not know the name of Knut and Hannah's father.

Hello, Michael. I was reading through the posts and when I saw yours did a double take, my great grandmother was a Sadie Fjetland(nee: Van Buskirk.) Which of the sibling was/is your parent? My grandmother is Donna.
Also, S_sherertz, would you happen to know the name of said nephew? I know an Edward fjetland who immirated around1894.
