This may not be your Capt. but was the 22nd Fighter Squadron, 36th Fighter Group based near where your mother lived.

Capt. John Blair Fitts, Jr. was a member of the 22nd Fighter Squadron, 36th Fighter Group, Squadron Book 1945:"....and 22nd birdman, 2/Lt. Johnny Fitts, came back one day with a hunk of Jerry flak in his hip pocket, stopped by a souvenir penknife....".

He was the son of Dr. John Blair Fitts & Marion Mantius Fitts
wife: Ann Everest Fitts

He was born Aug. 4 1922 in Virginia and died Aug. 24, 1948 in New Jersey and he is buried in Arlington National Cemetery, D.C.Plot: Sec: 8, Site: 555 NH, Arlington Virginia just outside of Washington.

I would suggest you contact Judy Stell stellva@msn.com she may be able to help you with Capt Fitts. If you do email her put my name in the subject box with your subject. She has been researching the Fitts line for a few years.
Thanks Brady! Jonathan Fitts is buried in what appears to be the family owned cemetery of the Perkins family [my ancestors] and I've been trying to determine if there was a relationship between Jonathan and the Perkins family or if they were merely neighbors and/or close friends. I don't see a blood or marriage relationship in your info so I will assume that they were friends or neighbors.

Thanks again for your help.

Suggest that you do a Y-DNA test on Family Tree DNA or Family Finder on Family Tree. You could also do the Ancestry DNA test. There is a "Fitts Family DNA" which I started on Family Tree which has four different Fitts families here in US on it, all who tested using the Y-DNA test. I would also suggest that you test for at least 37 markers. The 12 marker test could assign you to a group but may not tell you which family group you belong to.

Brady Fitts

If you have any question maybe I can answer them for you. I have been researching the Fitts Family for about twenty years. I also have a copy of the book mentioned above. My tree on Ancestry.com is "My Fitts Family Tree" where most of the information I have put together over the years can be found. Would like to talk with you and compare notes and if you do go into my Ancestry tree let me know if I have anything wrong.

Brady Fitts
Tandy Fitts of Virginia/Georgia in early 1800

We have information where Dr. William Washington Fitts of Carrol County Georgia stated his Grand father Tandy Fitts came from Virginia in late 1700. His father was Walker Fitts who he indicated was born in Virginia. I would like to know if there is any documents that will help identify where in Virginia they came from. I have used Halifax County, VA but have no proof of the connection. Tandy may have been the husband of Mary Fitts who drew in the Cherokee lottery of Georgia and if so this may mean that his name was John Tandy Fitts. Any help would be a big help. I need to be able to prove the connection with documents.

It does cover the Fitts Families in other parts of the country but to a lesser degree. On page 252 has information on Alvin and Fannie and on facing page there is a photo of each. Fannie died 13 Oct. 1889 and Alvin married Delia Camp Fellows and there is a photo of them on following pages.

Good hunting,
Brady Fitts

CAPT. FITTS US ARMY WW2

Hi,
Re: CAPT. FITTS, US ARMY, WW2, ENGLAND, UK, 1943.
I’m writing from England, UK.
Captain Fitts was my natural father (I was born in 1944 and adopted in 1946).
I was told that FITTS was pretty certainly the correct spelling of his name, rather than FITZ.
JOHN was quite possibly, though not definitely, his Christian (or first) name. And it’s believed, though again, not known for certain, that he was an architect in civilian life. Which, together with his rank, would suggest that in 1943, he must, at least, have been in his mid-twenties and could have been in his thirties or even forties.
But basically, all I know for sure is that he was a US Army Capt. named Fitts (or Fitz). And his liaison with my mother was brief. So he may just have been here in transit for a few days or weeks, rather than actually stationed here.
While I imagine he would almost certainly have passed on by now, it’s possible that in 1943 he was married and is still survived by a widow who knows nothing about me. So, if anyone reading this suspects they may know of the Capt. Fitts to whom I refer, and there is a widow still living, please don’t make enquiries that risk her learning about me. I would not want to be responsible for such a shock to her.
However, subject to that safeguard, if someone does think they may know of the Capt. Fitts I’m looking for, I’d love to hear from them.
With best wishes to Fitts’s one and all,
Alastair K. Newman
I don't have any information on Ruben Fitts. I was wondering if you had any information on James Hayes and Susan Fitts, especially their adopted daughter Rebecca Hayes? Rebecca's sister Maranzy Hayes is my 3rd great grandmother. Maranzy was born 1836-1838 in either Alabama or Mississippi. I figure since Rebecca was born in Alabama in 1836 and they are suppose to be sisters, Maranzy might have been born in the same county as Rebecca.

Mike Parker

Re: Henry Tolliver Fitts, born 1829

Mary daughter to Henry and Emiline is my husbands g-g-grandmother. Mary marriend Sanford Padget in Dec 13 1875 by S. Griffeth, NP. They had 5 children. Beatrice Padget one of their children is my husband g-grandmother. She married Louis Mesmer III (they had a son Louis Mesmer IV) then later married Park Trammel who was once Governor of Florida and then senator of Florida. Beatrice brother Edgar (ED) has a school and a road named after him. Lou (Louis Mesmer IV) is my mother-in-laws father. Our family is the last of the Padget decedents in this area. There may some in Kansas City where Beatrice brother William lived. He had a son.

They live in the rural part of town but I don't know what Sanford and Mary did. I'm assuming they did well because they lived in a very nice home and owned a lot of property.

I hope this helps a little bit.
Brady,

This is a perfect example of how are family page can work to support each other.

As I said in the note, I never met Richard Fitts, however I spent most of my 29 years in the Army in Special Forces. I wore Richard's POW/MIA bracelet until he was returned. My office was right next to the SF statue at Fort Bragg and Richards name was there until he was returned.

There was a Vietnam Veteran's welcome home celebration at Charlotte Motor Speedway a couple weeks ago. Over 50,000 people and the mini Vietnam wall were there. I found Richard's name....again (have also visited the wall in DC several times).

Henry

I did not know SSG Richard Fitts. however I too served in Vietnam and spent most of my military time in Special Forces. I know we lost Richard Fitts in Vietnam and his name is on the "Bronze Bruce" SF memorial at Fort Bragg. I wore the POW/MIA bracelet of Richard Fitts until his fate was determined.

I hope you are able to locate someone who personally knew him.

Henry Fitts
