I have been out of town for the past week so will try to put my noggin to the wheel here, so to speak...for some reason Ashton-under-Lynn is ringing a bell...someone else has written me about that place and I remember thinking that it should be Ashton-under-Lyme.

I just got a letter from the Heywood Library with a copy of the Pomfret's for 1891 in Heap...which is my great grandfather's family

They included the address of the local family history society based in Rochdale....
