Velma M. Fialkovich Schcosky, of Churchill, passed peacefully into life eternal Tuesday, May 3, 2011, with her husband, Edward, at her side. She was born Jan. 27, 1932, in Braddock, to the late Michael and Frances Ban Fialkovich, and graduated from Braddock High School, class of 1950. Velma is survived by her loving husband, Edward, a former teacher in the Braddock and Woodland Hills School Districts; a daughter, Lois (Hartley) Baird, of Lebanon, Ohio; and a son, Daniel, at home. Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Waslewski; and three brothers, Eugene (wife, Mary, of North Versailles), Clarence and Michael (wife, Anna, of Penn Hills). Velma was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She enjoyed being a homemaker and caring for her family. She also enjoyed watching QVC and the Home Shopping Network. Calling hours with the family are from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the SCHLEIFER FUNERAL CHAPEL INC., formerly the Ronald V. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc., 534 Jones Ave., North Braddock, 412-271-1361. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday in Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, Braddock, by Father Thomas J. Burke. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Braddock Hills.
