Fiala Ancestors - Mathew's Siblings, etc.
Hi Loretta, my name is Debbie Christ. Your message piqued my interest and so here comes what I hope to be more info on the Fiala family. My great-grandmother was Agnes Fiala, born 12/27/1881. She had brothers - Joseph, Mathew, Frank and we think also a Michael. There might also have been a sister Mary. My g grandma always said she was "Bohemian." One of her brothers was a tailor and one a barber. Frank lived in St. Louis, MO; Matt lived in Harrisburg, IL, Agnes (my g. grandma) lived in St. Louis and then in Kansas City, MO. Joseph moved to Portland, OR. My grandfather was Raymond Frank Allen, the oldest child of Agnes ('nee Fiala) and John Allen. My husband and I are going out for the evening, but I couldn't wait to replay when I saw your message on the Ancestry.com message board. I may have more info for you. Please e-mail me at kechri@peoplepc.com. Isn't the internet great! I can't wait to hear from you!

Susan,
I was given this website by a distant Heriaud relative. I'm a bit new at this so I hope I'm not causing a problem.
We're trying to piece the Heriauds together. My mother is Genevieve (Heriaud) Ross, she had one sister Ethel Butler and brothers Earl and Ray. My grandfather was Charles Heriaud, born 1883-1967, he had a brother Marsley who married Lucille Bieritz 09-21-11. I think the great-grandfather were Eugene Heriaud 05-21-1854 and Julia Vagley 02-24-56. Some variations of the name appear to be Heriau, Hariot and Heric.

To Jeff:
My husband's name is Joseph Heriaud II. His grandfather's name is Earl Olmstead Heriaud, born February 20, 1912, died July 1969. I have no other information to give you other than Earl married my husband's grandmother, Loraine Gertrude Brady on January 25, 1937 and had 14 children, including my father-in-law. All reside in the Chicagoland suburbs. You may be able to get more information on the Heriaud family line by posting a message on the Heriaud Family Surname Message Board. I hope this helps you out a little...I was researching my mother's family line...Fiala Swanson.

I have read all the Info on this site regarding this lineage of the Fiala Tree. The names that I have seen and what I have read so far I find very interesting. Some of the names sound very familiar to my ancestry. From chicago to Prague I have traced my lineage to close to 200 years. I have pictures documentation from the wars and letters. I speak Czech, Polish and Russian, I live in Florida, but my family immigrated to Chicago from Poland, Original Heritage on my fathers side was from Czechoslovakia. My Aunt in England is still on the trail to go back even further if she can in time. She travels to the Ukraine and neighboring countries very often on vacation and gathers any info she can. If interested leave message. Contact me directly by E-mail if you desire. ( knightweb7@yahoo.com )

I saw your "Fiala" post and thought you might be able to help me with my line. My great uncle was Father John Leoplold Fiala (a former priest & plant breeder/hybridizer). At some point he had some extensive research done on the family. Unfortunately after his death in 1990, his house burnt & most of the contents as well. A brief family outline made it's way to another family member & most of the info below is derived from that document. My paternal grandmother was Marie Frances Fiala (b 1916 in Cleveland, Oh). Her father was Louis J Fiala, who married Louise Ustrnul in Cleveland on Oct 5, 1915 (Marriage cert. spells his first name as Aloysius and hers as Aloysia....later records show his name as Alois & hers as Aloise). He was born in "Bohemia" (Czech?) on May 2,1891 & died May 28, 1965. His parents were Anton Fiala & Marie Herbst (1842-1942), daughter of Wilhelm Herbst & Gretchen Handschuh. (Supposedly Gretchen was the daughter of a count & the Handschuh family was very famous, living in a castle in Trencin, Austria---Not sure how true this is). Anyway, Anton & Marie Fiala had 16 kids - (Marie, Karl, Wencesaus, Caroline, Frances, Anthony, Wilhelm, Beatrice, Frank, Julia, Charles, Stephan, Rose, Greta, Alois & Anna). I have very little info on these siblings. No vital dates, only a few names of spouses. Some died in WW1, some died as children, some came to the US. Supposedly Anton was in the wars of 1866 & 1878. My European history is a bit rusty, so I'm not sure what these wars were about. Anton Fiala's parents were Wenceslaus Fiala & Caroline Hertz, daughter of a German count. If you know anything about this Fiala line, I would appreciate hearing from you. Please use the email address supplied above. Thanks!
