Hi Bill,
I live in WA state and am also a direct descendant of Philip Fetterly (c.1725-c.1800) + Anna Margaretha Schuman/Schumacher/Schoein (1730-1793) of Guilderland/Knox, NY. My line also goes through their UEL son Peter: Peter (c.1753-1813)+HannahAnna Basler (misnomer--Borgley)>their son Philip(b.c.1786)+Magdalena Ouderkirk>John Peter Fetterly (1807-1891)+Nancy Hanes>John Lever/Leaver Fetterly(1847-1926)+Mina Alice Casselman>Roy Clair Fetterly (1895-1930)+Helen Enoch Conger>Clair Conger Fetterly(1917-1987)+Henrietta Eastman(1918-1993)>me Nancy H. Fetterly-Johnson.
I've been searching for Philip's parents. In the Albany, NY area before the Rev. War were the following 3 families of Fetterly/Vetter/Vetterlys: (1) Johannis Vetterly (b.c.1737)+Elizabeth Anna Margarethe Crounse>their son John Fetterly(b.abt.1760)+Mary Katrin Claus; (2) Henry Fetterly(c.1735-c.1777--died Battle of Oriskany abt. 1777)+Eve Davis; (3) Lucas Vetter/Vatter/Vedder (descendant of Nickel Vedder of Germany) and also was a Loyalist.
The earliest Fetterly I can find mentioned on Ancestry is John Fetterly/Fetherly who migrated to Virginia in the late 1600s. There was also a runaway indentured servant in 1729 (mentioned in Ben Franklin's Penn. Gazette) named Johannis Fetterly, runaway from John Nagel of Philadelphia -- was formerly a soldier in "the emperor's army" (Germany??). There was also a Philip Vetter who migrated from the Palatinate of Germany in abt. 1749. Around the 1740-1765 time frame is also mentioned a Hans Jacob Fetterly that migrated from Germany to Philadelphia. Further, a Federlein migrated to NY in the same time period. There were also families in the SE states and in Maine that were descended from the English Featherlys/Feathers.
What is needed is a document such as a church baptism that would connect these Fetterlys or mention where Philip came from or when he was baptized. I've not located such a document yet.
This might not help you much, but you can email me with questions you might have.
