At last 2 Fetterly/Fader families left the Mohawk Valley of NY because they were Lpyalists during the Revolution:
Peter Fetterly (UEL), b. about 1753, d. 1813, m. Hannah Anna Basler. Son of Philip Fetterly and Anna Margaretha Schuhmann - evidence that this couple married in PA and moved to NY about 1750. Peter's brother John Fetterly also went to Canada. Rest of the family stayed in NY. Peter received land in Williamsburg for service in King's Royal Regiment of NY.
Lucas Fader who died after Rev. in Montreal, son of Lucas Fader - descended from Lucas Vetter of Germany. William Foote/Fetter of NY served in Rev. and was his son. Lucas' other children went to Canada.
Another Fetterly/Featherly family that stayed in NY was descended from Johannes Fetterly - no proven connection to the other two above. This family married into the Stansell family and founded Stark, NY.
Yet another family was truly Dutch and had lived in NY since the 1600s - the Vedders of NY. The founder of this family was Harmonus Vedder.
