Very old message board, but this sounds like my paternal grandmother's family, Lucy Fernekees Curran. Besides knowing the names of a couple siblings, I have no idea about their history.

My grandmother's name was Lottie Fernekees and her sisters were Hattie, Annie, Elizabeth etc.They are from Mauch Chunk PA, or Jim Thorpe PA, same place different name. I have been working on both sides of my family tree for over ten years and still have a lot of information to gather about both the Loomis/Fernekees/Hummel and the McLaughlin/Russell families. I don't know if this is just a surname coincidence, but I've indexed death notices for Bertha Fernekes Schrank found in Milwaukee's German newspapers. There are about 60 Schrank and 95 Fernekes / Ferneckes entries or references in the current, growing data file.

Just came across your post and would like to take you up on your offer of Kelsch family info. My great uncle was Julius Louis Kelsch who married Mary Adelaide Fernekess and they had three sons: Louis, George, and Donald (all now deceased). I still live in Quincy and have only recently started putting a family history together now that I'm retired. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I've just stumbled across this message board- a few years after everyone else! Benedict Fernekees is my 3rd great grandfather. His son W. H. C. Fernekees Sr, had WHCF jr, who had Mary Catherine Fernekees - my maternal grandmother.

I saw a post here by a Monica Taylor- Monica are you still out there? your email address doesnt work. I'd love to learn more about Marie Adelaide. I have her as "Mary" on my tree.

In fact, if anyone has anything they can share I'd love to be in touch!

Je ne parle pas français, si ce mai être difficile. Les parents de Thomas Bernard Fernekes b. 1749 à Germersheim sont Barthelomew Fernekes et Marie Magdeleine Mellin. Barthelomew également marié à Marie Anna Schwangerlein premier, et ils eurent un fils nommé Fernekes Martin, b. vers 1730. Martin Fernekes est l'ancêtre de mon mari. Thomas Bernarnd Fernekes et Martin Fernekes étaient des demi-frères, donc il ya une relation entre nos lignes Fernekes

Les ancêtres de mon mari s'installe à Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Etats-Unis avant 1860. J'ai des photographies de ces ancêtres.

I do not speak French, so this may be difficult. Parents of Thomas Bernard b. Fernekes 1749 in Germersheim are Barthelomew Fernekes and Mary Magdalene Mellin. Barthelomew also married to Mary Anna Schwangerlein first, and they had a son named Martin Fernekes b. 1730. Martin Fernekes is the ancestor of my husband. Thomas Bernarnd Fernekes and Martin Fernekes were half-brothers, so there is a relationship between our Fernekes lines. The ancestors of my husband moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States before 1860. I have photographs of these ancestors. My ancestors come from Germersheim, Germany.

Thomas Bernard Fernekees born ?, married 22/02/1773 Germersheim with Eva Catherine Franckin (Frank).
Then Thomas Bernard Fernekees born 04/02/1774 Germersheim, married in France (Strasbourg) : 08/02/1815 with Marie Joséphine Lang born : 19/03/1783 Kehl, Duché de Bade (Germany). Several children born in Strasbourg, France.

Hello,

My husbands ancestors were Fernekes from Germersheim. It is even on their gravestones. Their hometown of Germersheim is even noted on some of their head stones. (See attachment.)

Earliest known ancestor is Barthelomew Fernekes born about 1700. My husband's last ancestor named Fernekes was Maria Magdalena Fernekes, born 25 Jan 1829 in Germersheim (parents Phillip Anton Fernekes and Maria Catherine Schranck, also of Germersheim) , who married Friederich Edward Vollert. The Fernekes family emigrated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Benedick Fernekees and Theresa Hoeffner were my great-great-grandparents. They had 14 children; William Henry 1859, Frank Josep 1861, Marie Elizabeth 1862, Catherine Theresa 1864, John Martin 1866, Anton Benedick 1867, Annie Mathilda 1870, Emma Louisa 1871, George (?) 1872, "Alois, Pius, Peter, Maria"--(?? that's the way it is written in the family Bible, commas included) 1874, Killian Francis Xavier 1876, Florence Victoria 1877, Marie Adelaide (my great-grandmother--b. 1882, died 1955 in Quincy, Mass.), and Ursula Cecilia 1886.

We have a family bible from the Kelsch side of the family. Marie Adelaide married Louis Kelsch in 1911. If you would like more info--i think we have photos of Marie Adelaide Fernekees Kelsch.
