Very old message board, but this sounds like my paternal grandmother's family, Lucy Fernekees Curran. Besides knowing the names of a couple siblings, I have no idea about their history.

Fernekees Family

Hi Noreen:

My grandmother's name was Lottie Fernekees and her sisters were Hattie, Annie, Elizabeth etc. They are from Mauch Chunk PA, or Jim Thorpe PA, same place different name. I have been working on both sides of my family tree for over ten years and still have a lot of information to gather about both the Loomis/Fernekees/Hummel and the McLaughlin/Russell families. I have a personal web site which might be helpful in showing what information I currently have:

http://www.citlink.net/~insider

My grandfather had a plumbing business in Bayonne NJ and there is an article on my website about him and also pictures of both my grandmother and grandfather Loomis. I have been in touch with my mom's first cousin, she is currently 96 years old, Ruth Kistler whose mom was Elizabeth Fernekees. I am looking for connections in the Fernekees family and found you on Ancestry.com. My phone number is:

Home: (845) 343-2634
Cell: (845) 421-3568

My wife and I visited Jim Thorpe several years ago and went to the Evergreen cemetery and found my grandmother's stone and many others of the Fernekees Hummel family. I understand that the Hummel side of the family are the figurine makers. Anyway, if you would like, please drop me an email or give me a call.
Hello, Monica.
Just came across your post and would like to take you up on your offer of Kelsch family info. My great uncle was Julius Louis Kelsch who married Mary Adelaide Fernekess and they had three sons: Louis, George, and Donald (all now deceased). I still live in Quincy and have only recently started putting a family history together now that I'm retired. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
Paul Kelsch

I've just stumbled across this message board- a few years after everyone else! Benedict Fernekees is my 3rd great grandfather. His son W. H. C. Fernekees Sr, had WHCF jr, who had Mary Catherine Fernekees - my maternal grandmother.

I saw a post here by a Monica Taylor- Monica are you still out there? your email address doesnt work. I'd love to learn more about Marie Adelaide. I have her as "Mary" on my tree.

In fact, if anyone has anything they can share I'd love to be in touch!
Mary@Tiger-fly.com
thank you!
Mary

Thomas Bernarnd Fernekes et Martin Fernekes étaient des demi-frères, donc il ya une relation entre nos lignes Fernekes

Les ancêtres de mon mari s'installe à Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Etats-Unis avant 1860.
Hello,

My husbands ancestors were Fernekes from Germersheim. It is even on their gravestones. Their hometown of Germersheim is even noted on some of their head stones. (See attachment.)

Earliest known ancestor is Barthelomew Fernekes born about 1700. My husband's last ancestor named Fernekes was Maria Magdalena Fernekes, born 25 Jan 1829 in Germersheim (parents Phillip Anton Fernekes and Maria Catherine Schranck, also of Germersheim) , who married Friederich Edward Vollert. The Fernekes family emigrated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Is there a connection with your family?

Thanks, Mary Griffin

Hello Janice,
my name is Christian Fernekess. Many years ago they spelled my name Fernekees too. I come from Germany, my ancestors come from Wattenheim, Heddenleidelheim and Grünstadt. Perhaps they are the same like yours...
Regards
Christian

Benedick Fernekees and Theresa Hoeffner were my great-great-grandparents. They had 14 children; William Henry 1859, Frank Josep 1861, Marie Elizabeth 1862, Catherine Theresa 1864, John Martin 1866, Anton Benedick 1867, Annie Mathilda 1870, Emma Louisa 1871, George (?) 1872, "Alois, Pius, Peter, Maria"--(?? that's the way it is written in the family Bible, commas included) 1874, Killian Francis Xavier 1876, Florence Victoria 1877, Marie Adelaide (my great-grandmother--b. 1882, died 1955 in Quincy, Mass.), and Ursula Cecilia 1886.

We have a family bible from the Kelsch side of the family. Marie Adelaide married Louis Kelsch in 1911. If you would like more info--i think we have photos of Marie Adelaide Fernekees Kelsch.

I'd love to trade info on this branch of my family. Thanks! monicat@wk.com

Fernekees / Schroth / Dehm/ Gramer

On Wednesday, June 25, 1888, Maria Elizabeth Fernekees of Boston married German immigrant Edward Friedrich Schroth, who had immigrated to America from Baden, Germany. The youngest of their eight children was my mother's father, Walter George Schroth. I am seeking any information related to families Schroth or Fernekees.

Maria Elizabeth's parents were immigrants Benedick Fernekees, born in Hochspeyer, Pfalz, Bayern, and Theresa (nee Hoeffner), born in Haut-Rhine, Mulhouse, Alsace-Lorraine.

My grandfather Walter George owned a wooden candlestick holder, whose bottom bears the name and address:

FRIDOLIN DEHM
Dreschlermeister
Johlingen, Baden
Hauptstrasse 112

At present, we do not know of any familial connection between the Dehms and the Schroths or Fernekees.

On Sept. 1, 1866, Stephen and Mary E. (Dehm) Gramer gave birth to son George L. The father, a pianoforte maker, was born in Wuerttemberg, Germany; the mother was born in Roxbury.

If anyone has any pertinent information related to families with these surnames, please contact me at: Timothy.S.Lemire@fmr.com.

Thanks!
TSL

Benedict Fernekees and Theresa Hoeffner

I am new to this geneaology search and this is as far back as I can find relatives. Benedict and Theresa are my great great grandparents. Their daughter Mary Elizabeth married Edward F. Schroth who were the parents of my grandmother, Marie Francesca Schroth. She in turn married John T. Kreger in 1913 . Any information would be appreciated.
Paula
