Hi Kristie Lynn,

I am Elisabeth's uncle David and Angelo was my uncle. He was married to a woman named Carolyn but her last name escapes me. I do recall that we did have relatives with the last name Serra however. As the years go by and the older more knowledgeable family members pass away it becomes harder and harder to know just who is related to whom! I hope to get a handle on it one day and hopefully connect with some extended family one day.

Best to you.
David

Hi!
My name is Elisabeth, and my uncle David posted earlier in this thread. After I read your post, I wanted to add that our family settled in westerly, to, when they came over from acri. From what I know, there are two Feraco families in acri, but they may not have been related. Also, I'm pretty sure my great-uncle was an Angelo, though I dont know if they're the same one.

Hi Lou, Bob and Kara,

I'm yet another cousin...apparently we like to research our family tree. I have been researching our Feraco's from Acri for some time now. Between what I've found here, along with notes from my mother's cousin from a visit to Acri years ago, here is what I have found:

Cosimo was actually a triplet, the girl died at birth, along with their mother, and his twin was named Damiano. Their father was Luigi Feraco. Their mother was Nicollina maria Longobucco. From what Damiano's family has told us, Luigi remarried to a woman who did not want boys. So their grandfather (also named Luigi), raised them. We're still not 200% sure they were originally from Acri.

Lou's Luigi may be either Cosimo's father or grandfather.

In addition, someone I met on here sent me copies of the birth and marriage records for Cosimo and Filomena. Kara, I sent them to your mom, Bob, if you want them, I can forward them along.
I have a obituary of their double funeral that I would like to send you. It is strange my grandmother being a Feraco and marrying a Serra. I also remember going to a Serra family reuinion in Wersterly R.I. where my father had a large number of cousins and uncles and aunts. I have a bit more info if you are interested.

Al Serra

Dear Albert,
I thought I'd write because we have names and a town in common, at least! I live in Connecticut and my great-grandmother's name was Christine Serra (she was said to be from Acri, Calabria & came here in 1905, & settled in CT.) She lived from 5/24/1880 - 9/1973. She had a sister Maria (sp?), who we didn't know. (Her parents were Josephine Sposato and Frank Serra.) Christine Serra married my great-grandfather, Angelo Feraco who lived from 11/6/1881 - 10/1972. He was also said to be from Acri, Calabria & came to the USA in 1903. He had a brother Michael, who we know nothing about. (His parents were Louise Esposato and Carl Feraco.) Christine & Angelo had 7 children: Mary, Carl, Agustine (my godfather), Frank, Anna, and Theresa (my grandmother, who married a Gagliardo). All of these children lived in CT, & Mary is the only still living. If you see any connection, please let me know! Hope to hear from you soon!
-Kimberly Gagliardo

Hi Rob:

I received your e-mail message. I tried to e-mail you directly with the following information, but it was returned and marked undeliverable. Is your e-mail address correct. I verified the information about your parents with my dad. We come from a small town on the outskirts of Aiello called Cannavali. According to my father, his father Luigi Feraco (married to Fortunata Feraco) told him that the Feraco family originates from Aiello, but they spread out around the surrounding area. He also remembers hearing that some of the Feraco's did move to Terrati, but even though they were in such close proximity to one another they eventually lost touch; therefore, I think that we may indeed be related somehow. Unfortunately, my Father, who will be 80 years old in August doesn't remember much in the way of names, etc. My mother is also from the Cannavali. Her name is Iolanda (nee Muto). Her parents were Pasquale Muto and Maria Rosaria Rossi. My mother also remembers hearing the name Pino mentioned in the town. Maybe between the two of us we can put a few more pieces of our family tree together. Let me know if your parents remember anything else or if you find out more. Thanks. Edda.

I was looking at the Feraco ancestry board and came across your message to Rocco. I thought I would respond to you directly, as I think we may be related (perhaps distantly) in some fashion.

You said that your family came from a small town in southern Italy called Aiello. Having been there a few times, I can tell you that, actually, Aiello is not so small. It would be on the large side for a town in south Italy. In fact, it is considered the "big town" in the area that my mother and father are from.

The thing about your message that jumped out at me is that :

1. Your first name, Edda, that I assume is not too common, is also my mother's name (although her maiden name is Pino). Coincidentally, my mother's family comes from a town called Patricello (I'm not sure about the spelling, but will check with my mom), which is spitting distance from Aiello.

2. You said that "My father, Nicola Feraco was also born it Italy. He comes from a small town near Aiello, Calabro in the province of Cosenza in Calabria." This is, in fact, the exact same thing I would say. That is, my father's name is Nicola Feraco. He comes from a small town called Terrati, which is about 5 km from Aiello.
What is the name of the town that your father is from? How old is your father? My dad is turning 70 this year. Is your father of about the same age? I wonder how there could be 2 Nicola Feraco's in such close proximity when they were growing up and likely do not know each other.

When they came to America they settled in Rhode Island and I have an aunt and uncle along with some cousins still there. I also have relatives in New York.My dad settled in Mass after his time in the service. We have met very few people with the last name Feraco and so I decided to respond here. My grandfather was a twin and his name was Cosimo and my grandmother's name was Philomena. I can't remember her maiden name. Well, that's it for now but would love to hear from other Feracos.

Hello Gianni, my name is David and my grandfather also came from Acri. He was a twin and I believe his brother never made it over here to the US. I live in Boston,Massachusetts. My dad Fiori had 2 brothers and a sister. All came here to the US and my uncle Armando settled in New York while my uncle Angelo and aunt Annunziata remained in Rhode Island. I'm sure we must have a common relative. I've not been but my cousin visited our relatives in Acri a few years back and I plan on visiting next year. Hope all is well with you and yours and would be interested in hearing from you sometime.

David

Hi There:

This is quite a coincidence. You will never believe this, but my name is Edda and my maiden name is Feraco. Not only am I in shock that there is another Edda (not a very common name), she happens to be a Feraco too. Ironically, my father's name is Nicola Feraco. He too was born in Aiello, Calabro, in the province of Cosenza. His father was Luigi Feraco. I wonder if we are somehow related. Please let me know if you have any further information, as I am very interested in learning more about our name, ancestry and any other potential family members. By the way I live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Hi Gianni:

I live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. My maiden name is Feraco. Ironically, my family also has a large male population. I have 3 brothers and no sisters. I am also of Italian origin and am interested in locating any other family members. My father's name is Nicola Feraco. He was born in Aiello, Calabro,Cosenza, Italy, also from the region of acri. His father's name was Luigi Feraco -- he married Fortunata Feraco. They had ten children. Apparently, my grandfather, Luigi went to the U.S.A. in 1904. He lived in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania for 20 years, before he returned to Italy. I wonder if we are somehow related. Unfortunately, my father knows very little about his family background. Please let me know if you have any more information. Thanks. Edda.

I am a Feraco from Utah. A very strange combination; but there are several of our "clan" in these parts. My grandfather is the 'elder' Feraco in Utah, at 80 years. He's lived in Utah most of his life, and actually seems to like the place. I myself just moved back to Utah from Seattle and my husband and I hope to move back soon to the Northwest.

I am not sure where my great grandfather originated from in Italy, but I hope to find out.

FERACO IN EDMONTON, ALBERTA, CANADA

My name is Robert Feraco. I am a lawyer in Edmonton (Home of the Oilers). I was born and raised here, although my family originates from (surprise, surprise)...Italy. My parents, Nicola and Edda (nee Pino) Feraco were born in Italy and immigrated to Canada in the late 1950's. My paternal grandparents (Guiseppe and Teresa Feraco)are from Terrati (near Lago) in the province of Cosenza. I did not know my great grandparents, however, I understand that they were also from Terrati.

My grandfather, Guiseppe Feraco, passed away a few years ago in Terrati. My grandmother, Teresa, still lives there.

Guiseppe and Teresa had 5 children, of which my father, Nicola, is the oldest. He was followed by Carmine (also of Edmonton), Maria (who passed away in Edmonton about 10 years ago), Franco (of Cosenza, Italy) and Lina (now an Alto-Italiana living in Veneto).

My parents have 5 children:
Cathy (in Edmonton, born 1959)
Joe (in Edmonton, born 1962)
Robert (that's me, born 1964)
Sandra (now a Floridian, born 1969)
David (in Edmonton, born 1973).

I am going to get some information about my Great Grandma and Grandpa Feraco from my father and will post the same later.
