Thank you Delores. I am related by marriage to his spouse Elsie Barker. Are you in the Felkins or Barker line? I received a lot of info on James L Felkins from Gail Morris back in 2000.

I know a tiny amount of info. My grandmother is Ida Catherine Davis (Allen) who was born in Linn Co. Kansas in 1881. Her mother was Mary Catherine Felkins was born in 1839 I believe in Overton or Fentress County Tennessee. Her father William and her Grandfather Martin Felkins moved their entire families to Montgomery Co. Missouri in 1849. After the war Mary Felkins met and married David Allen in the 1870's. Mary's brother Wiley Jackson Felkins fought in the civil war, was wounded and died in the hospital in Springfield, Missouri. This is pretty much all I know about her. She is my great grandmother on my Dad's side.Sure would apprieciate any further info on the felkins or any of the other surnames listed. Thanks, hope some of this helps.

Sorry for the delay in response.

Here's what I think about John Dotson Bratcher's descendents:

1-John Dotson Bratcher
b: Mar 1852 in Arkansas
+Sarah Jane Felkins
b: 11 Nov 1842 in Overton Co., TN
m: est 1871
d: 28 Jan 1929 in Siloam Springs, Benton Co., AR
. . . 2-Ada Bratcher
b: abt 1874 in probably Fulton County, Arkansas
. . . 2-Albert (Lee) Bratcher
b: abt 1876 in Moko, Fulton Co., AR
. . . 2-Charley Amos Bratcher
b: Oct 1881 in probably Fulton County, Arkansas
. . . 2-Joseph (Richard) Bratcher
b: Feb 1880 in Moko, Fulton Co., AR
. . . 2-(Joel) Edward Bratcher
b: abt 1880 in Moko, Fulton Co., AR

I think that some of the children on the 1880 census were actually not John's children, but Sarah's. Though they were listed with last name, Bratcher, I think they were actually children of my GGgrandfather, William Joe Lingle:

1-William Joe Lingle
b: 1840
d: aft 1905
+Sarah Jane Felkins
b: 11 Nov 1842 in Overton Co., TN
m: 3 Jul 1864 in Union County, IL
d: 28 Jan 1929 in Siloam Springs, Benton Co., AR
. . . 2-Thomas (Jackson) Lingle
b: abt 1865 in Illinois
. . . 2-John Lingle
b: abt 1866 in Illinois
. . . 2-James Wilson Lingle
b: 10 Jan 1868 in Illinois
d: 4 Mar 1937 in Siloam Springs, Benton Co., AR

Sarah Jane Felkins was my great, great grandmother. I am descended from a son of her first marriage - i.e. James Wilson Lingle.

Sarah Jane is buried in Oakhill Cemetery, Siloam Springs, AR, but the grave is unmarked. My mother, just recently deceased, told me that she was very small and was called "Little Grandma" by her Lingle grandchildren.

I'm very interested in any other information you may have on her lineage.

Hi Jimmy, sounds like we might be cousins of one degree or another. How are you connected to Marinda? Was one of your ggrands a sibling and which one? My mother used to speak of her grandmother a great deal and must have spent a lot of time with her. Some where in my memory there lurks a connection to Dutch ancestry, does this come up in your search. I remember seeing ggrandmother I was 5, 6, or 7. She was confined to bed and was not able to get up. She was all shrunken and I remember being frightened of her. She was being cared for by Annie Smith in Redbank (Chattanooga) Tn. This was my grandfather Henry Allison Torbett's sister. Where are you located? Are you in Ala. Thanks much for your reply. Alma
