DiFelice / Felice from Bugnara, Italy

Hello, looking for any information about my great-grandfather and his parents who are from Bugnara, Italy. My great-grandfather was born Gaetano DiFelice/Felice in 1888, he immigrated to the United States in 1909. His parents are Vittorino DiFelice/Felice and Donata Ianessa. His father came to the U.S. for awhile, but I believe went back to Italy. I do not have confirmation on his death to know this for sure, but I have learned that Donata did pass away in Italy in 1913. Gaetano changed his name after a couple of years in the states to Guy Felix. He has four sisters, all born in Bugnara. All but one also immigrated to the US (Natalia, Maria Niva Nicolina, and Fortuna). Two of them ended up in Pennsylvania and one in New York. My Great-grandfather moved to Michigan after a short stay in Pennsylvania. One sister remained in Bugnara, her name was Yolanda. I would love any information regarding the Italian heritage of this family and the sister who stayed in Italy. I also very recently found information regarding the sister who ended up in New York (Bronx area)... her name is Maria Nicolina, and she married a man named Giovani Ciocchi. I'd love to find any family members from this family too. Regarding the family's surname, I have seen documentation with both DiFelice and Felice, so I'm a little confused as to which is the official family name. Thanks in advance!

I see that your post is over a year old, but thought I would comment anyway. My Great-Grandfather and his family are from Bugnara, L'Aquila, Italy. His birth name was Gaetano DiFelice. When he immigrated to the US, he went by Felice, but eventually changed it to Felix, and was known as Guy Felix. He was in Pennsylvania for a couple of years, but then left for Michigan. Most of his relatives stayed in PA, and kept the surname Felice. He is the only one in his family that came to Michigan. Are you looking for a specific person?

John V. "Streamy" Felice, 95, of Greensburg, PA. died Saturday, April 21, 2012, in Redstone Highlands, Greensburg.
He was born in Greensburg, Sept. 25, 1916.

He graduated from Greensburg High School and was also a certified electrician.

He worked for 49 years as a machinist at the former Walworth Co. in South Greensburg.

He also served as an officer and grievance man for the United Steelworkers Union of America while working at Walworth.

He worked an additional 21 years as a tipstaff at the Westmoreland County Court House for the Hon. Judge Charles H. Loughran

He was a former Greensburg City councilman, former chairman of the Greensburg Democratic Party, past president and founder of the Greater Greensburg Senior Citizen Center, former member of the board of directors of the Westmoreland County Area Agency on Aging, former president and founding member of the Hilltop Social Club, and was an usher and member for 72 years at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church

John was an avid bowler and golfer and mastered flying airplanes as a young man.

Prior to his employment at Walworth, John was a stickman at a casino in Steubenville, Ohio, with Dino Crocetti, who was better known as actor-singer Dean Martin.

John loved watching sports and was always eager to talk politics
In warmer months you could always find him and his family gathered on his front porch in Hilltop.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Caterina (Testa) Felice, and his father, Frank Felice; a brother, Michael N. "Sau" Felice; a sister-in-law, Theresa (Spino) Felice; and a son, James T. Felice.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Elizabeth (Hricik) Felice; sons, John M. Felice and wife, Nancy (Yandora), of Greensburg, Thomas C. Felice and wife, Carolyn (Chabino), of Harrisburg, and Michael A. Felice, of Greensburg; daughter-in-law, Donna Wetzel, of Greensburg; grandchildren, Melissa Peddicord and husband, Chas, of Greensburg, Tracy Felice and boyfriend, Sean Blair, of Greensburg, Alison Felice, of Blairsville, and Lindsay Felice, of Harrisburg; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Amber and Mia Peddicord, of Greensburg; and sister-in-law, Mrs. Thomas (Geraldine) Hricik.

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Prayers will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in Austintown for Nina A. Marsilio, 76, who passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Nina was born April 14, 1936, in Bugnara L’Aquila, Italy, a daughter of the late Oddino and Josephine (DiFiore) Felice.

She grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and graduated from St. Paul’s Cathedral. She came to the Youngstown area when she married in 1957. Nina was a member of St. Joseph Church and their choir for many years.
She was also a founding member of St. Joseph Ladies Guild. Nina enjoyed her time with her quilting friends and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan.

Her husband, Emilio L. Marsilio, whom she married Sept. 7, 1957, passed away Oct. 28, 2008.

Nina leaves her two daughters, Amy A. Marsilio and Jo Marie Marsilio, both of Austintown, Ohio; her son, Jerry (Mary) Marsilio of Chicago; a granddaughter, Angela (Zack) Cain of Texas; and a great-granddaughter Kayla Cain of Texas.

Nina was also preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Felice.

Family and friends may call Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery.

Looking for Felice and Bocci Family Members in the US and/or Italy/Sicily

My grandmother's maiden name was Jane Bocci and my grandfather's name was Sam Felice. They came to American in the early 1920's. My father is Donald Babe Felice and his sister is Estelle Felice. Jane (Bocci) Felice had two sisters, Emma and Chris (now Mausser), and they had brothers named Joseph and Dominic Bocci. I would love to find more information about their birthplace in Italy/Sicily and connect to any family members in the US or Italy. We are planning to visit Italy 6/28 - 7/17.

I am so excited to get your message! I really hope there is a connection. My family name is Fella, but somewhere it was changed to Felice. Do you have any idea where your family is from in Italy? did John live in New York? Could his father have been named Antonio? The birth year of 1861 could fit. My gr gr grandfather Giuseppi was born in 1877. Please respond with the information you have. I have a death certificate with the name of John Felice as the son of Antonio.

I think we may be related. My great great great Grandfather was John Felice, born in 1861 and died around 1927. He then left a son Nicholas who had a son John who had my Grandfather Frank Felice (filice) who my dad John Nicholas Felice.

i'm not sure if this will help but i was married to a felice. they live in davidson mi. their names are william,philis, the sons names are anthony and william. they use to live in waterford mi. bill has a brother name raymond and he sitll lives in waterford mi. and his phone number is listed in the phone book.

I am a granddaughter of a Joe Felice I would really like to find out more about my natural grandfather. He met my grandmother in a bar in Michigan. They were never married but did have a son. There was a picture a long time ago that showed that Joe Felice had one leg shorter than the other I would really like to know about my grandfather if you know of any Felices that have this charecteristic.

I realize this post is 9 years old, but iI thought you might still be interested. Emma Lanzetta married Dominick Felice in 1916. Her sister Maria Lanzetta married James Grucci in early 1900's. This is how Felice's and Grucci's are cousins. I have a decent amount of research done, but am constantly updating. My husband, Joseph, and I are trying to find his father, Joseph V. Felice, from Patchogue, NY. My husband needs to know answers about his mother's mysterious death in 1983. My husband was born in Brooklyn, NY, and went on to receive two degrees. We recently married.

We have a painting up of my husband's mother. The only picture Joseph has of his father is in his wallet. I made a vow to love my husband and I will do everything I can to find his father. Joseph is a son any father would be proud of. It hurts me inside every time my husband cries in pain at not having parents or brothers and sisters physically in his life. I believe they were from a little town called San DeStefano , Cosenza, Calabria . I am trying to find out Elder John's parents now. I found out that a relative of mine actually went there and got a lot of info on both families.

I believe they arrived in the 1920 area. They did arrive in NYC but moved to Philadelphia. I did hear something about a Talerico (sp) who married a Felice and lived in Astoria. I am still working on it.

I am getting some info on my greatgreatgrandfather John Felice (giovanni). I am having problems with the Ferrara name. Mary Ferrara married Frank Felice , they are my grandparents. They are both from Cosenza calabria. The problem is that I think Mary's dad left the family so we never got any info on him.

My Father and Great Grandfather are John Felice. John, the eldest one, is from Cosenza Calabria and came over about 1909ish. I think he was born about 1865 or so. John's kids are Frank Charles Ernest Marian Theresa and Alfred

I also have a ggrandmother named Rosina (Rosie) Grech. Was told they were born and married in Malta (England?) Rosie's husband was Felix Bartoli. They had one son (that I know of )named "Charlie". He was in Canada in the 1920's. Ring any bells?

Ralph Felice, 77, a resident of Albuquerque for the past 22 years passed away after a long illness on Monday, January 12, 2004. Ralph was born February 19, 1926 in Mt. Kisco, NY. He was an active member in the Katonah/Cross River communities for over 50 years. He is survived by his five children, Gail and husband, Paul of Paw Paw, WV, Karen of White Plains, NY, Donna Bundock and husband, Jeb of Albuquerque, Gregg and wife, Laura of Patterson, NY and Jill and significant other Roeliff of Santa Fe, NM; grandchildren, Tony, Alana, Kaitlin, Erin, Lana and Juliette. He graduated from Katonah High School in 1943 and played semi-professional baseball for the Brooklyn Dodgers until going off to war. As a lifelong member of the South Salem Fire Department, he was very proud of his service to his country and community. Upon returning from the war, Ralph took over the operation of the Fifth Division Market with lifelong partner and friend, Waldie Gullen. The Fifth Division Market was started in 1905 by Ralph's father and was named after the Fifth Division in WW1. While in Albuquerque, Ralph continued to provide his excellent service skills to Skaggs Alpha Beta and Jewel Osco. He was an avid golfer and dog lover. His sense of humor and laughter will be missed by his family and friends. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church, 10000 Candelaria NE at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2004. My John Felice was in the area of New York at the beginning of the 20th century. Is that where your relative is from? The original name was Fella but somehow it was changed.

Do you know of the name of John the elder's father? Did you ever hear of a town called Sant Angelo A fasanella. It is in the area of Campania , in the mountains near Salerno and Naples.Some other family names are De Filippo,Tesaro,Loungo, Caroppoli and Verone.

Janine my grandfather Sam had a brother his name was Grant the rest was sisters there was Mary, Maggie, Vera and Hilda, they all have passed away except Hilda, my great grandfather Felici Felice came from rome and moved to Hazard Ky. lived there until his death, my father frank has also passed away, so Its hard for me to find any family, I know that papo has family in rome, he used to mail Jeans and items to family there, I was young and never ask there name, I know when people came to U.S they came to New York
