Very sorry to read that Linda Fay Kaufman has passed on and that no one has taken over the Fay Family site.

Does anyone know of what proof there is for the comment on the John Fay Homepage History page about the French Protestant lineage? Has anyone contacted Kew Archives for information about why our ancestor sailed over here at age 8? Has anyone contacted Massachusetts to see if there are records on his arrival or release from indentured servitude?

Somewhere on my computer I have the FAY bible. Also, I recall seeing information on the lineage of the Fays (from French and Huguenots) but it'll take me some time to try to find that. There's also a copy of the ship passenger list with John Fay's name on. I'll see what I can find. Will send it to you when, if I can locate it among my piles of piles. Sorry to hear about the death of Linda FAY Kaufman. But, there IS a lot of info on the FAY family.
Thanks for the contact. Gail (gtoe@aol.com)

Gail,
I'd also be interested in any information you might have that provide more information about John.
I had no idea there was a Fay bible, if you could send it along I'd appreciate it. :)

I didn't know there was a Fay Bible either. The Fay Family site has a scan of Orlin P Fay's book and other material including a scan of the Speedwell passenger page.

Dear Gail,

I, too, would be interested in a copy of the Fay family Bible, if you are able to forward it to me. My husband's family are descended from the Fay line.

Best regards.

For the many who are interested in seeing the Fay Family bible, I post the link here. If any of you can't open this link, let me know and I'll try to attach it or send it another way. Glad I could help. So nice that we all help each other. Gail

Beautiful, how wonderful for the descendents in that line. It still leaves unanswered our 8 year old John's history.
Does anyone have source material for the line of David, son of John Fay and Susanna Shattuck, b. 4/23/1679?

David Fay b Marlbourough, Middlesex, MA Birth records.p 69 death 10 Apr 1738 Gravetone
David Fay inherited the homestead on the north side of Clean Hill. He settled in that part of Marlborogh which was set off to Southboro, east of Wolfpen Hill, and with Robert Horn, about 1731, built a grist mill on Stony Brook in the southeast part of the town.

He united with the church April 2, 1710. Before the incorporation of the town of Southboro he was placed on a committee to seat the meeting in Marlborough and the next year he was chosen Constable of Southboro, where he was also elected Selectman in 1730, 1733, and 1735.

He was by occupation a weaver.

His wife at the time of her marriage was an heir to Edward Larkin of Charlestown, where he and his wife, Sara, Jan. 27, 1709-1710, sold for $150, to Joseph Kent of Charlestown, land formerly owned by John Larkin. Jan 28, 1706-1707, he exchanged land with Isaac Temple.

He and his family, also the families of Moses Newton, John Newton, Widow Johnson, Moses Newton, Jr., and James Cady were assigned to the "Garrison" of Isaac Howe for protection from the Indians.

I'm a descendant of John -David -Aaron -Nathan (Lexington-Concord Alarm) -Nathan Jr (who moved to Chautauqua Cnty, NY) -John and his son, John "Martin" who moved to Fulton, IL -Arthur who moved to Chicago- and John, my Father.
I first discovered Olin Fay's book in Newberry Library in Chicago in the 1970's. I've sent a request to the Bennington VT Library per another poster's tip.
