Hi Sally - I am researching Farrells in and around Tuam, Galway. I recently found two connections to my ancestors that married into the Farrell line. One is my GG-Grandparents John Cunningham and Anne Farrell (i have the marriage cert showing they were married 1872 at St Mary's Church in Barnaderg, Killererin). My connection is through Michael Cunningham and i show John and Anne had around 14 children. Interestingly enough I believe Anne is the child of Patrick Farrell and Sarah Raftery. I saw the Martin Farrell in Pasaic, NJ and thought he might be the brother of Anne. John and Anne Cunningham are found in the 1901/1911 Irish census living in Togher Beg, Killererin, Galway. John is a blacksmith.
The other is my GG-Grandparents Patrick Mitchell and Mary Farrell (married 1854 i believe at the same church in Barnaderg, Killererin). Mary's father is listed as Michael but i only have the extract not the actual marriage cert. Patrick and Mary Mitchell are shown in the 1901/1911 Irish Census living in Garraun Coyle, Killererin, Galway. Patrick is listed as a Farmer.
I am making plans to visit the Tuam area in July of next year and am wondering if we can exchange more direct information on the Farrell line. I have reason to believe the Farrells i am tracking ran the corn mills in Coolrevagh, Killererin, Galway (Patrick per the Griffiths Valuation) and Grange, Killererin, Galway (Michael per the Griffiths Valuation).
I'm at
