My g-g-grandfather arrived in VT in the early 1800's. He was from a family of fishermen, from what I understand, in Canada. He was in the British Army and deserted, escaping into the US under a load of hay on a farmer's wagon. He married Mary Hutchinson Claxton and had two sons, Thomas (b. 1832) and Robert, my g-grandfather (b. 1835 near Grand Isle, VT). John Farmer died in 1842. Robert ended up in Nebraska. Do you think there maybe a connection?
