VIENNA, Ill.--H. Buton Farley, 98, of Vienna died at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday at the home of his son.

A native of Marshall County, Ky., he attended Murray State University. He retired as a correctional officer with the Vienna Correctional Center, and was a member of Vienna Church of Christ.

Surviving are one son, Tom Farley of Metropolis; one sister, Jessie Carney of Hopkinsville, Ky.; four grandchildren, Sue Ellen Ragsdale of Reidland, Ky., Stan Farley of Metropolis, Michael Cagle of Marion, and Charles Cagle of Steeleville; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Farley was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Morgan Farley; one daughter, Barbara Ann Cagle; one granddaughter; one brother; and two sisters. His parents were William Edward Farley and Lola Pearl East Farley.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Bill Brandstatter will officiate. Burial will be in Berea Cemetery.

Friends may call between 6 and 8 this evening at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Vienna Church of Christ, 560 Old Route 146 Loop, Vienna, IL 62995; or Berea Cemetery, c/o Clarence Allbritten, 5270 U.S. Highway 45 South, Belknap, IL 62908. Memorial envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
