Roger, thanks for that, my interest level just went up a tad.
My lot were living
Eckford around that time.
http://familytree.lornahen.com/spFAIRBAIRN.htmThe baptisms (Free Church, Morebattle records) of sons David (1800), John (1797) and James (1794) show
Archibald and
Alison as living in Grahamslaw,
Eckford.
Mind you, I am trying to claim a Robert in Canada born around 1786 as belonging to this family, and his children were born around 1817 thru 1828 at which time he emigrated.
I did find a Robert and Betty in the 1851 census in
Scotland but the children didn't quite match in age so I ruled him out (at the time I only had Elizabeth as the mother, not knowing George's father's name).
Check out the family of James
FAIRBAIRN and Mary Bell
THOMSON as potential relations (there's a link on the above page).
James was baptized Morebattle 1794 and by 1822 was living
Eckford when they married, and they had a son Robert at Caverton
Mill,
Eckford in 1824 which would indicate a Robert somewhere in the family.
Don't suppose you've any direct line male descendants surnamed
FAIRBAIRN still around in this family who would be interested in joining the Surname DNA project have you?
Discounts available until the end of December if you join via the project.
Happy to swap to private email, just click on my monicker above left to get contact details.
