hi, my name is nita fa'agau. my father is tolovae fa'agau, his mother was Uasami Fa'agau Milo, her father was Ave'ese Fa'agau and her mother was Uimaitua Nua Fa'agau. i know that Ave'ese and Uimaitua had a total of 13 kids altogether. i know only a few people in the family but because it is such a large family, its hard to keep track of everyone in the family. if you know any of the family tree that would be great.

Talofa/Hello Nita:

Faatoese/Sorry for my late response. Hoping all is well for you and aiga/Family.

What is it about the Fa'agau-Seui Family you'd like to know?

Do you know the original surname is SEUI? Fa'agau is a matai title picked up by my great-grandfather before he passed on.

When his sons--So'o, Sai, Ave, and Matu'u--left Tutuila in the '40s & '50s they'd planned to change the surname FA'AGAU to their given names as a surname (which is a tradition in Samoa). Alas (and thank goodness) the US government refused them to do this. They were told what Samoan custom they wanted to carry/continue stayed in Samoa and not done in America. USA did not recognize Samoan customs/traditions and since the boys were not US citizens... well, they had no American rights other than traveling back and forth without a passport back then. So, their children became 1st generation US citizens.

Hi,
My name is Paul Fereti Jones. My mother name was Luania Fa'agau, 12th child of 13. The youngest was Uncle Mac who has also passed away.
She was married to Paul Welby Jones. The youngest was Uncle Mac who has also passed away.
Sister is one of my cousins who still lives in Samoa.
If you are able to build a family tree, I would be most interested to also learn and to find every one.

Regards

Fereti:

Uo mai oe? And that's asfaras I go(hahaha) with Samoan. My grandmother was just telling me did I find your mother--Auntie Lu--and unfortunately I had no good news to report to her(again) not since the last known location there in NT. How is she? And your tama? Always knew you as Fereti but didn't know you are actually named Paul. And your brother? Won't the Aussies and Kiwis(I'm always netting with them first thing in the mornings, my time) be delighted the "hunt" is over for Auntie Lu and Manaia can get a Life(hahaha)! But I have other "hunts" for they're always on the lookout for my "lost" Samoans. Genealogy can be resourceful if one knows how to use it. The post prior was in answer to Uncle Toelavae's child--Toelavae was an actual grandchild of Leone & Uimaitua Faagau-SEUI but raised as one of their 12 kids as their oldest child was Uasami(twin) your Mom's oldest sister--oh,oh... this is the third time I've had to write this post so I will hurry before it shuts down again. Everyone is alive and doing well in the States and on the Islands. Uncle Gary built a B/B on Hilo so everyone has a place to stay when visiting. You can reach me: manaiaaalofa@yahoo.com. Then I'll give you the private address.

HUGS N KISSES, Soifua,

Hello there Family!
My granny's name is Aofia and my mother is the oldest of their clan, yet she was raised w/her dad when they split up and aunty Ta'ifau was raised w/granny. Later on granny had more children, BUT! i'm gonna keep this topic on my great-gramma Uimaitua(hope i spell'd that one right...)
I remember Grand-Aunt Luania came 2our home in Daly City and went home w/pix of me & my babiGurl and other pix of our family so she can "ADD" 2her family tree she spoke about. She invited us for a visit when we can, but we never got a chance. I always talk about my next trip being 2visit relatives in Australia & hope 2get there soon!
We knew Grand-Aunty Sami & some of her children we grew up around. My brother Tony told me that Gary is here in Hilo & since then(2008) i've been kinda lookin' around since this "is" a small town. I also googled his name last yr & only saw "facebook" member which i've hesitated 2join last couple yrs due 2the drama...lol ;)
Anyhow, i also remember NaNette/Rolling Pin Donuts! hee hee hee & can't wait 2contact her too since it's been long time!
All i can say is, I'm another great-grand-daughter of Fa'agau tree discussed/researched here & i remember granny had my uncles/aunties>> Ta'iFau, FinaGalo, Aveina, Sina, Sui, & Aunty Sister. I have lots of 1st cousin's i've at least met once & I miss them dearly except that I was raised in the mainland/CA so this is one reason i'm here in Hawaii, which i've gotten 2know my Aunty Ta'iFau's kids who are next 2us, the oldest of our line & also around our age. I'm happy 2have spent this time with them & their families.
***I would be interested in touching base w/Uncle Gary since he's close relations & i don't have anyone else here on the BigIsland other than one 1st cuz on each side of my family. MORE THAN THAT, it will be nice 2chat w/someone who remembers the CALIF family which includes ours(Tony, Mace, Delphine, Daphne, Samson, & Delanie).
******To>>Uncle Toro's child: i remember going 2Uncle Toro's house in San Francisco and mom used 2let him do our taxes. I still go visit the gurls and Aunty at Woodlawn cemetary occassionally too.
Take care my relatives & FEEL free 2email me cuz i'm kinda lonely on this island, but yet again... am back for a li'l while longer. Tofa Soifua ;) Alofa Atu!
Just Pepe/Daphne ;)
Leipua1@aol.com AND LOOK ME UP ON MYSPACE 4family pix! i ONLY have close family on there 4that reason & managed 2keep everyone updated on family photo's 4rm ALL sides of my family. Fa'agau side i'm still trying 2collect pix of though... Please keep contact ;) And tell Gary i'm in town! Let's touch base!!!

With due respect... i 4got Uncle Mac, and Ave'ese(mom's bro who died early in Hawaii), also some twins that died as babies that are buried in the back of granny's house... Still have Great-gramma & grampa's grave inside the downstairs of granny's 2story home in Matu'u. I slept w/them in 2003(my last visit there...)
I remember Granny's youngest bro' i think 4rm Seatle which i never got the opportunity 2meet any of his children still ;) HE WAS like a handsome movie-star everyone agreed & a favorite! Mom loved him dearly & that's about it 4now ;) Hope i didn't 4get anyone else in our line....hee hee
****Other relatives in our line i remember are>> Granny's sisters that had names of the weather(Afa, Sami, and Luania), brother's(Sainila & Tolovae), and also some of Mom's 1st cousins>Aunty Coco, April, September, November, December?, Uncle March, and Uncle Sainila/JR...
Keep me posted on our family if possible ;) Thanx! and God bless!!!

I would like to contact Paul Fereti Jones, as I believe he, and his brother are my cousins.
I lost contact when Luania Jones (nee Fa'agau) died.
