Have any of the various Ezell lines (Ezell, Essalle, Israel, Izzard, etc...) been DNA tested by any genealogical dna company like FTDNA.com to see how all these different lines connect?
I connect to the Middle TN bunch and have been wondering about this. Perhaps this type of testing would be able to help place the geographical origin of the differing lines.

Based on the 03 posting date I'm guessing the OP was referring to yDNA not the atDNA test Ancestry is pushing these days.
Which test have the 2 of you taken? I've done Ancestry's atDNA test.
My maternal Grandmother was an Ezzell who's tree traces back to Mikel Ezell b. 1750's Va. - d. 1790 Duplin Co., NC and his wife Sarah. We're still in NC. The line ultimately goes back to Colonial Virginia but records are pretty scarce.
If you really want to make use of your DNA results upload them to GEDmatch.com. It's a donation based site that people from Ancestry, FTDNA & 23andMe all upload to to compare the actual DNA results as opposed to just matching trees. My kit# is A830444.
You can also upload your results to FTDNA for a small fee. They run sales periodically so I'd suggest waiting for one if you opt to go that route.
Both sites allow gedcoms to be uploaded but most of them don't hold a candle to the trees on Ancestry but if you're looking to expand your DNA matches they're both good options.
Good hunting.

My brother just did the atDNA from ancestry and uploaded it to FTDNA, we are connecting to the Ezells TN, Kentucky and V, our maternal great grandmother was Mary Francis Ezell, in fact the biggest matches are with the Ezell side of the family, not so much on the Glover's yet! Her gradfather was Gilliam Ezell, looks like i was on the correct trail all along

I've done the NatGeo and Ancestry DNA tests but haven't done much of anything with the results. Any suggestions?
