I am curious to know if anyone has tied brothers Samuel and Benjamin Eyler living in Greene County, Ohio to the Samuel and Benjamin Eyler, sons of Jonas (1752-1825) and Anna Regina (Harbaugh) Eyler of Graceham, Frederick, Maryland.
Moravian Church records show Samuel’s birth as 5Jan1787 and marriage to Mary Lavich(?) 18Oct1808 with issue of Lydia b. 27Jun1809, Maria b. 4Jun1814, and Anna b. 3Aug 1816 d. 12May1818, all in Graceham.
Cemetery Inscriptions of the Woodland Cemetery in Xenia, Greene, Ohio show Samuel Eyler (5Jan1787-27Jun1848) and wife Mary M. (5Apr1784-18Aug1878). In the 1850-60-70 Census, Mary lists her place of birth as Maryland.
Greene County marriage records show a Lydia Eyler m. Lewis Donnell on 5Dec1842. In the 1850 Census, Lydia lists her age as 41 and place of birth, Maryland. Also from Greene County marriages, a Mary Eyler m. George W. Young on 14Feb1844. In the 1850 Census, Mary shows her age as 35 and place of birth as Maryland.
Moravian records show Benjamin’s birth as 17Feb1785 and marriage to Barbara Schnierle 19Apr1811 with issue Rachel b. 14Mar1812 and Margaret b. 15Jun1814, both in Graceham.
I have not found any record of Benjamin’s death, but in the 1850 Census he lists his age as 60. In the 1860 Census he lists his age as 79 suggesting a birth somewhere between 1781 and 1790. Place of birth in both is given as Maryland. In the same Census records, Barbara shows her age as 59 and 74 respectively. Place of birth is given as Pennsylvania in both records. From Woodland cemetery inscriptions her birth is shown as 11May1783 and death as 15Nov1860.
Greene County marriage records show a Rachel Eyler m. Jacob Stemble on 6Oct1839. Missouri death records show Rachel Stemble death on 12Oct1886 in Fayetteville, Johnson, MO. Her age is given as 74 and place of birth as Frederick City, MD. From marriage records of neighboring Clinton County , a Margaret Eyler m. Lewis Larew (Larue?) on 6May1833. I could find no other info on Margaret or Lewis.
Both Samuel and Benjamin had additional issue in Ohio. Although it is somewhat speculative, I have tied to Samuel and Mary the following issue: (a)John b. 18May1820 d. 5Jun1894 m. Leah Gaugh 14Dec1844, (b) Samuel Nathaniel b. 19Mar1823 d. 15Mar1915 m(1) Cynthia Neal 12Jul1848 m(2) Julia Young 18May1854, and (c) Eliza Ann b. Abt. 1826 m. Richard H. C. Parsell 8Oct1845.
To Benjamin and Barbara I have linked the following issue: (a) Catherine b. Abt. 1819 m. John D. Chambers 7Sep1840, (b) Abraham b. Abt. 1820 m. Mahala Detter 8Feb1847, and (c) Susan b. Abt. 1823 m. Amos Rogers 9Mar1843.
If any of these names are familiar to anyone I would be glad to share all the info I have collected to date.
