Uncle Harold was my Grandfather's brother. He helped my dad get through college after my Grandpa Cyril died in the 1950's. I've always stated that I wanted to go to Ilford just to stand where my grandfather was born. This is AWESOME! Please send a scanned copy to
karenrorinelson@hotmail.comThis family left England for Australia, then went to Canada where Harold's younger brother Frank entered the Royal Canadian Army. Frank was killed in Belgium in WWI and is buried there. Alfred's family moved to the Portland, Oregon area where "Grandma EYK" lived with her son Alfred until she died. Uncle Al never married.
I recently found out that Dame Maggie Smith was born in Ilford. It was too many years after my grandpa Cyril, but still an interesting fact to me. I'd love to correspond with you if you can tell me anything more about Ilford. Thank you for posting this. I look forward to hearing from you.
By the way, my father's immediate family is all living in California now. We have an Eykelbosch cousin in Nevada, some in Oregon and Washington, and MANY (Eykelbosh) in Canada. Thank you for taking an interest an posting this information.
