There have been many ways to spell this Dutch
surname--usually how it sounded to an indivi-
dual who could write or spell.Am not familiar
with Mr. White of England.Eyke could have
come from Ten Eyck or German Eick.Have you
looked at http://www.my-ged.com/ayers ?

An ancestor was Elizabeth EYKE, born 1841, Bridgnorth, Shropshire; died 1919, Pawtucket, RI, married to James WHITE probably about 1858. No marriage record has yet been found. Elizabeth and James lived at Kinver, Staffordshire from about 1861 to 1879 when they moved to Bradford, Lancashire. They migrated to New England (USA) in the mid 1890s. I have family data, and a lineage for Elizabeth but very little for James. I will be happy to exchange data. <dfehlings@aol.com>

Gary! Forgive me for not having written sooner! I truly wish I
had met your father because the Denver Public Library has a copy of The Ten Eyck Family Record. It was written in the 1950s by A.M.Ten Eyck. In the back of the book, George left his (and your) line. I correspond with a friend of his, Cora.
Where besides in Texas is New Caney?!
What was the Aunt's name who traced the family to Coenraet?
