My mother was an Ey. Her family is in the Rochester, NY area. They came from Erie, PA and before that, Germany and England. One of her brothers lived in Maryland. His offsprings still live in the area. I'll be pleased to share my information with you. Hopefully our family and yours are related.

Hi,
Wish I had additional information. If you look back at my original message, you'll see the EY's were from Hesse, is this any help?

The farthes back that I have information is an August Ey. He was married to Johanna Spritzke. Per the 1900 Census, both were born in Germany. I also found a source having them from Poznan, Wiekopolskie, Poland. Somewhere else I have Halberstadt, Germany. They departed Germany from Bremen on Ship Ocean. Immigration records have their birth in Prussa. One of their sons told his son that they were from Prussa. They arrived at Baltimore. I'm guessing that record keeping wasn't all that accurate back them. I can see a possibility that Poznan and Prussa were confused. My thinking is that Prussa is correct. August and Johanna setteled in Erie, PA. He was a machnist. Offsprings relocated to Rochester, NY. Does any of this fit with your information.

Hi

My information doesn't fit yours. My Ei's arrived in 1858, and didn't have a "Profession", as did your. Sorry.
Good Luck.
