Thanks for the message. I am vaguely aware of the possible link from Sx to Kent - which is yours? I think Kent lost much of its parish records in the War - Sx escaped but it left some loose ends on the borders. Part of my Excells in about 1800 went up to Ldn and then back down to Aylesford and Rye.

One common factor with the Gloucester Excells seems to be the Leather Trade. There were apprentices in both areas (Northampton leather Museum) and in Ldn where one became the Master of the Saddlers Livery Company - but it is probably a coincidence.

Interesting if someone has done the Gloucester research.
