all our lives we've been told ewton is not the original name. Thru the family it's been told we're Britt's, Newton, and Wooten. But alas, no one has ever gotten past Albin Buchanon, Caswell Polk or the three sisters that originally moved into the Sequatchie Valley to find out what the original name was. It's always been said, that their mother was with them, also, but no one was found her grave or a clue to her name. The only clue we had that our family was from another place, was Miss Annie Ewton when she was very sick, bedridden and one of A.B.'s granddaughters and was questioned about the Ewton family, said, "our family has nothing to be ashamed of, they fought in the Revolutionary War." Never mentioned us as anything other than Ewtons. Also my ggrandfather was John Houston Ewton, one of A.B.'s son, James Ewton was the Texas Ewton, Alexander was the Missouri Ewton, those are the only two of A.B.'s sons that every left Tn. and moved somewhere else. Myself, I was born and raised in Dunlap, Sequatchie Co, TN
