John Eury/Uhry/ Ewry was a native of Maryland and came to Montgomery Co., Ohio at a very early day settling in Van Buren township and buying land one mile east of the present site of Beavertown toward the direction of the first church. He was one of the earliest to move, donating land toward it for a site two acres, upon which is also located the cemetery. He reared a large family and lived to be very old. This church was the German Reformed church in this township.
John is thought to be brother of Christian and Samuel Eury of Frederick County, Maryland. He married to Elizabeth Hensey on April 17, 1800,in the Evangelical Reformed Church, Frederick County, MD and these two men signed the marriage document.
