I did some research on Adam Ewig in Snyder and Northumberland counties last summer. According to a publication called The Snyder County Pioneers, by Dr. Charles A. Fisher, Adam immigrated to the colonies in 1732 aboard the ship Johnson. He came from the Palatine area of Germany. His father, John, swore an oath of allegiance to the British Government after his arrival in Philadelphia. He married in Pennsylvania to someone named Barbara, and he was living in Penn's Creek about 1768.

The only variation I have seen on his name is the spelling Evig, which mirrors the German pronunciation of his name.

I am related to Adam through his grandson, Michael. Any chance you are as well?

I hope this helps you.
