Henry L. Ewell of Sandwich, Surrey County,
Kent, England (born 1615, came to the American
Colony in March 1634 aboard the Hercules. He
settled in Scituate, MA.
Henry's father was John Ewell of Kent, England.
John's brother was Robert Jesse Ewell, whose
son Edward is the ancestor of the Virginia
"Southern" Ewell's.
I am of Henry's descent through Gershom,
through John Sr., through John Jr., through
James, through John, through Franklin, through
Clinton, through Cline.
The Utah Ewell's, of whom I am now researching
a connection between the two families on the
part of William Fletcher's unnamed son born
in 1839, in accordance with his wife's own
autobiography, is descended from Robert Jesse
Ewell, Henry's brother, through Edward, through
James Sr., through James Jr., through Solomon,
through William, through Maxey, through
Pleasant, whose family was baptized into the
LDS Church in Missouri in 1838 by David Evans,
who then married Barbara Ewell, Pleasant's
Daughter. David Evans and Barbara Ewell founded
a city in Utah known as Lehi, Utah.
The two primary branches of Ewell's in America
are descended from either Robert Jesse Ewell or
Henry L. Ewell. There is another branch of the
Ewell family who immigrated to America, but
research into this branch is still ongoing.
Will post as emerging details are confirmed.
