I'm doing research on my family from Scotland and Ireland. I don't have a lot of information. The EWART's lived in Scotland but did live in Ireland for a short period of time when my grandfather James Alexander Ewart was born in 1895. His mother was Elizabeth MORRISON born in Scotland. And James's father was William Alexander Ewart. I believe William's father might have been a James also. Please if you have any information please contact me. Thank you.

My father and his three brothers grew up in Glasgow in the 1930's. One brother was a James who is still alive, and their father was also called James, and was born in approximately 1890. We know some of his family went to the USA around 1900. My father George, and James are living but other brother Thomas died in 1956, and Robert died in 1942 as a result of the Germans, he was one of the Cockleshell Heroes. I'll know more next week after a trip to Glasgow to visit my Uncle James. Bob

Re: Ewart/ Morrison Family
Hello, I'm in Canada & researching the Ewarts. Our Ewart ancestor, John Ewart married Mary Pink in Donaghadee, Down, Irland on 7 Dec 1846. They emigrated to Canada about 1853.
We don't know if John was born in Ireland or Scotland & his father may have been a James Ewart . They were all Master Mariners, Ship's owners & Sea Captains and they had 4 vessels. John also had an older brother, James, in Donaghadee who was a Ship Captain out of Donaghadee.
Does any of this correspond to your Ewart records. We can't get past the John & Mary marriage!
Any feedback would be appreciated. Lisa Wellbelove, Canada

Hi. I am seeking information for my mother regarding her fathers family. Her father died before she was born so she doesn't have much info. Her father was Harold Ewart born in England, her grandfather was Harold Parker Ewart (b.1892) also born in England. I recently got some info that HP's mothers name was Belle Ewart and that he had a brother Stanley both of whom were born in Scotland. Do you have any connection to this family? If you do, please get back to me...my Mom would be thrilled to hear about the family she never got to know.

My Grandfather was William Alexander Ewart and came to america around the 1900s. i believe it was 1912. He was born in 1905.

Hi my dad has always told me that marine Robert Ewart was his older cousin. My dad says his father Robert Ewart born around 1904 was brother to James Ewart. My grandfather was a miner and died in 1958?

Hi. In response to the message below, I'm wondering if you can go back earlier than 1904. My great grandfather was Robert Ewart born 1830. He married Margaret Coulter in 1853 and they had 8 children. The oldest son was James Ewart born 1853.(my grandfather Alexander was the next son) James married Jessie Livingston and they had 5 children. Their second son was James and he was born in 1882. All of the above were born and lived in Glasgow. I can't come any further forward than that, but the similarity of family names Robert and James made me wonder if there was any connection.

Hi That sounds as if there might be a connection. Scotland's People is a wonderful source for tracing your ancestors in Glasgow. No, Thomas is not a family name - but then neither is Dale. My second name is Margaret after my great grandmother.I live in Australia. My father, his siblings and my grandfather migrated here in 1912. Am keen to hear from you when you have done some research and happy to share info with you.
