Sorry, the only Ewalt I know is Ida Mae Ewalt married to my great great uncle. I am of the Fishel, Goodwin, Hawkins, Francis line. Missouri, Kentucky, Maryland, England.
Try the Church of Ladder Day Saints Ancestor Search, I have had good luck there.

There are several Ewalts still living in Ky. in Burbon County. They originally settled there in the last 1700 from Pa.

Refer to Library of Congress Catalogue Card Number 82-73200 also the Latter Day Saints in Salt Lake has some work on the family

The spelling in the family history is different. There is a Samuel B. Ewalt born June 28, 1836 in Paris, Bourbon, Ky. His parents were Samuel Ewalt and Elizabeth Porter Smith. Samuel B. Ewalt married Nancy Kellar (note spelling) on September 1, 1857. Nancy Kellar was born November 28, 1837 and died October 2, 1878.

Samuel B. and Nancy had two children: Keller Ewalt and William Ewalt. (Note the change in spelling which leads me to believe that the name Kellar is a typo).

Nancy died when William was one year old. Samuel B. Ewalt then married Rachel Halleck.

In the family records this information is supplied by Joe Ewalt. Joe currently lives on the originl Ewalt farm near Paris, Ky. at a place called Ewalt Corners as the four farms at that corner adjoin.

The last information I have on Joe was he is restoring the original home which was built in 1797 and plans on living there. I presume he could be contacted in Paris, Ky.

There are a number of Kellers listed in the family history on page 252. A Polly Miller, born in 1814 is the daughter of Hugh Miller and Mary Ewalt. Polly married Abraham Keller, who was born on May 4, 1809 and died in 1876.

Polly and Abraham had eleven children: Hugh, Margaret, William Henry, Mary, Elizabeth, Alice, Saqrah, James, Noah, Nannie and Billy.

This information is supplied by Mr. James C. Ward. The only James Clay Ward I found was born in 1894 and shows no date of death. He may have supplied this family line at the time the book was written which was 20 years ago.

The church of Latter Day Saints probably has more information on this. I would also contact Joe Ewalt in Paris. My sister did not get to meet him but she was at the family home on the farm several years ago. At the time Joe was having the stone part of the house restored.

Hope I was of some help.

My mother is an Ewalt. I was reading an interesting book on the Shawnee Indian wars in Ohio and Kentucky and ran across a reference to a sheriff Samual Ewalt. Almost has to be a relative. Pretty interesting. Book is called "That Dark and Bloody River".

Interesting! Does it say who his parents were or if he married and had family?

No, there is only the mention of Sam Ewalt being a sheriff who made an unpopular arrest of a local Indian War hero. It's non-fiction. The book is "That Dark and Bloody River". Don't recall the author, as I've loaned it to a friend. Might be Allan Eckert.
