What language was spoken by Andrew's parents?
Andrew's US documents like church baptismal record should have his parents names. If he was born in US than his SS-5Form too should have his parents names.

No IVANCZYAK or IWANCZYAK arrived to America thru EI www.ellisislandrecords.org
As you see spelling is important in "old country". In Poland's alphabet no V only W.

It is hard to say which is the true spelling of the name. He was born in Austria-hungary. He settled in Southern ILL. and his children are all Amercian born.

Austria - Hungary
http://users.erols.com/white28/austhung.htm where 12 different languages were spoken. We need to establish the language, spelling of the surname and location in old country.
I take it the first ancestor was Ruthenian - Byzantine Catholic. Did you look for church records of the first born child?
No W in Slovak alphabet and no V in Polish. The English Y is a J sound and E is I sound.
Your ancestral surname's root is first name Ivan or Iwan.

Do you have the manifest? Did he come thru Ellis Island? If any other port, you would have to attach a scan of the manifest, as I can only view EI.
Andrew in Hungarian is Andras, in Slovak Andrej, Ondrej,
in Polish Andrzej.

No. that information about the boat came from Ancestory, but since I do not have the "world Membership" that is far as it got. I believe that the surname may of been Ivanck, but I'm unsure. I was hoping to connect with some of Andrew's other's children, grandchildren or great granchildren. The only other clue is that his wife's first name was Verna(I believe that was a shorten version of her name)no madien name known. She too was from Austria-Hungary. They settled in Christopher, IL- my grandfather Nicholas was one of their children.

Verna could have come as Verona
Ivanck is missing a vowel. In this form it can not be pronounced correctly by a Slavic speaking person.
Does the Ancestry say which port he came thru? You might try your local library for the World Membership. Never know.

Have you located your ancestor's place of birth in old Austria-Hungary?
http://www.brainworker.ch/Oesterreich/Austria-hungary.png
Your grandfather Nicholas's church baptismal record should have his parents names and place of birth.
Did you check if your local library has free access to Ancestry or Heritage?
