I have started researching the history of the Eva family name. My Grandfather came from Cornwall and I'm aware Eva is an old Cornish name but as for that I know little else. I would be grateful for any information at all relating to the surname and other Eva's.

Mark:
My Grandmother Emily Jane EVA was born in Falmouth Cornwall in 1848 to James EVA and Eleanor Warham. On their marriage cert. James listed his father as Richard EVA. There were three Richard EVA in the area having children at that time.
Many of the EVA men were working in the tin mines when the tin ran out and they left Cornwall for other mineing areas such as Michigan for Copper and Penn. for Slate. Have some records of church if you can give details and times will be happy to look

My family also came from Cornwall - Helston where there are several Evas in the graveyard. My great grandfather Hugh Charles Eva went to Australia (Brisbane)in the 1860's and his son Arthur Charles was born there (1890's) as was my father Douglas Charles (1920).
We moved to the UK and although I have often seen the Eva surname I have not been able to establish any direct family link.

David.
There are not many people doing research on the Eva surname but a few. Most all were from Cornwall. Mine from Falmouth. Ordering the church records and census records from the Mormon FHC would give you what you need. My grandmother Emily Eva was the daughter of Eleanor and James. She was from Truro, St Agnes . You can find the Family History Center address in the phone book. If I can help, let me know

My family is from St.Ives in Cornwall. Except for my father I dont have a another Richard in my line. I have starting with my father Richard (NMI)/Thomas Ansits/William Cyril/Thomas Anstis/. I would be interested if you have Church records that records Thomas Anstis and Annie Couch married in Falmouth.
thanks

Maureen:

It is difficult to tell if we are related as the Eva families in Michigan are usually related to Eva family members that came there when the tin mines failed in Cornwall England. A lot of them came to Michigan to mine copper in the UP and are now all over the state and country. I am sure your grandfathers Eva family had there roots there in the 1800 period as did mine. My grandmother Emily Eva was born in Falmouth Cornwall to James Eva and Eleanor Warham in 1848 and that was before your grandfather was born I am sure but the families may be connected. I will keep your name and If i run across a connection I will contact you.
