Warner's History of Allegheny County, PA, 1889, pages 416-417, state that The Western Pennsylvania Institution for the Instruction of the Deaf and Dumb at Edgewood Station on the Pennsylvania RR is connected with the 3rd United Presbyterian Church. Archie Woodside and Miss Sarah Woodside were teachers there about 1869 when a day school program in Pittsburgh began; it appears that Archie began teaching about 1868.

From A Sketch of Euwer and Elliott Family by J.M. Kennedy is the statement that deaths ending the year of the 1890 August reunion included that of John Woodside, Freeport.
