Doing some research on the Etzler line. My lineage is through:

Robert Etzler (1980) (me)
Robert Etzler (1932) (dad)
Martin Carl Etzler (1907) (gf)
Martin Cornell Etzler (1863) (ggf)
A. Charles Etzler (1823) (gggf)

I am stuck at A. Charles Etzler. He married Eveline Perkins (of the Travis Perkins/Mary Cackley line).

I am pursuing a LOT of angles right now. These include:

1) A. Charles and Eveline lived in Clark County, MO during the 1850 census. This county neighbors Van Buren County, Iowa. A. Charles and Eveline buried their first daughter, Mary Elizabeth in Van Buren County.

2) There were 3 Etzler's living in Van Buren County around the same time. Hannah Etzler, and, presumably, her children Matilda Etzler and Thomas Etzler. One angle I am pursuing is that Hannah Etzler (maiden, Hannah Blackledge, first marriage Etzler, second marriage David White) was married to an Etzler brother and had both Matilda and Thomas. Due to the close proximity here, it may be possible that this Etzler brother was related to A. Charles Etzler (brothers?).

3) There is a significant amount of research completed on the Shasta County, CA, Etzler family and their patriarch, Martin Van Buren Etzler. He was born around 1830, also in Pennsylvania. For several reasons he remains very interesting. a) He had children named Matilda, Thomas, Charles Alexander and Eveline. b) His middle name is Van Buren (potentially just coincidence) c) His name is Martin - one of A. Charles' sons was Martin and that Martin's son was Martin.

As of right now I am curious, though have no proof, if Martin V. Etzler, A. Charles Etzler, and Etzler (married to Hannah Blackledge), were brothers. The presumed birth-date of each would be 1830, 1823, and approx 1825.

If they were brothers, or cousins, their fathers and potential common ancestor remain unknown currently. It seems only remotely likely that they were connected to the York County, PA Etzler's, almost all of whom seem to be well documented in the Mid-Maryland research initiative.

If anyone has any information on this line please feel free to post. If anyone has any information on Etzler's born around 1800 in Pennsylvania (specifically, Union and Snyder county, but potentially any county), please contact me.
