LANCASTER: Olen A. Ety, age 93, of Lancaster, Ohio died Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Fairfield Medical Center Palliative Care Unit, Lancaster, Ohio.
Olen was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, retired from the Ohio Power Company (AEP) in 1979 after 34 years of service and was a member of the American Legion. He was a S/Sgt. in the United States Army, 101st Airborne Division, WWII and honorably discharged September 22, 1945 serving four years, seven months and 22 days.

Olen was born August 8, 1917 on a farm in Carroll, Ohio to A. Jackson and Edna M. Ety.

He married Alice L. Eslinger August 4, 1943.

Survived by loving wife of 67 years, Alice; son, David (Sharon) Ety; daughter, Linda Clowe; one grandchild, Stephanie Pistole; one great grandchild, Gracee Eryn; brothers, Willard (Marjorie) Ety, and Fred (Ruth) Ety.
He was preceded in death by his parents, A. Jackson and Edna M. Ety; brothers, Harry, Raymond, Russell, Archie Ety; and sister, Alice Beatty.
Olen's family is warmly grateful to neighbors, friends, Reverend Roger Quay and the Fairfield Medical Palliative Care RN's, nurse's assistants, staff and David M. Scoggins, M.D. for their loving care, prayers and support.
Friends may visit from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Halteman-Fett and Dyer Funeral
Home. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 11, 2010 at the funeral home with Reverend Roger Quay officiating.
Donations may be made in Olen's memory to the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 125 N. Eastwood Avenue, Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
