I am working with other genealogists in compiling a complete genealogy of the Esquer family that settled in Culiacan, Sinaloa, and Alamos, Sonora in the late 17th century. We are preparing the Esquer genealogy, covering the Spanish colonial period, as part of of book to be published about the Esquer family. We have Y-DNA evidence linking the origins of that branch of the Esquer family to Navarra, Spain. Because there is a of lack of documentation, we have not succeeded in linking Joseph Cayetano Esquer (married to Juliana Astorga, Sept. 1740 in Alamos); Miguel Esquer (married to Ygnacia Carrasco Feb. 1717 in Alamos) to the Sinaloa-Sonora trunk of the Esquer family tree. Please contact me if you are a descendant of either of these two couples we would be delighted to hear from you. The early settlers who founded the Esquer name in Sinaloa and Sonora are: Juan Salvador, and his younger siblings, Miguel, Blas, Fernando, and Augustina.
