Although I have some information on our Esmonde ancestors, I have done little to organize and catalog it. I am now in the early stages of this task.
Notes from conversations with my older siblings and a cousin who is now deceased gave the following information. There is a John Patrick Esmonde, a Roman Catholic, which is my family's faith, who died on May 17, 1931 at the age of 92. He is buried in Notre Dame Cemetary located at 455 Montral Rd., Ottawa, Ont., Canada K1KOV2. I believe he is my father's uncle or my geat uncle. According to an obituary of my grandfather Joseph Esmonde, he died Oct. 18, 1898 at the age of 52+ yrs. His two brothers John P. Esmonde and James Esmonde attended my gf's funeral, as did a cousin F. W. Esmonde. Another obituary says a nephew Frank Esmonde attended the funeral. My father's Frank M. Esmonde was Joseph's son, so there may be some confusion of the part of those running the obituary section of the newspapers of that time, and it might be that the cousin and nephew are really he. My grandfather was a tinsmith and had a hardware and house furnishings business with his brother John P. Esmonde The older John Esmonde who died in 1883 at the age of 80 and is buried in the same family plot was also a tinsmith.
My ggmother, John the elder's wife, was Deborah Wiseman. She died Feb. 19, 1884 at the age of 74. John Patrick Esmonde died May 17, 1931 at the age of 92, and is buried there also. If your mother is an Irvine, then you are directly related to our family, because Florence Irvine who passed away recently was my first cousin and a daughter Judy is my second cousin. She has a sister Cathy in La Jolla, CA, and five brothers. That's all I can do in this area for you for
now.
The publisher of the book on the Esmonde names and their addresses iif as follows:

Their work is pretty good for locating the people, but I wouldn't guarantee their genealogical quality or accuracy. There were one or two of my relatives names missing from the book.
