I am Warren Dale Essary and I have researched the family name for about 30 years now and have over 35,000 family names in my data base and I share with all who does the same.

The name in Celtic or West Wales was Esworthy in their language in English it sounds more like Essery. The family in Early Devon, Cornwall and Pennsylvania about 1800 made several changes to the name. Some went with the Welch spelling of Esworthy and Essworthy and others went with the English spelling of Essery. The root form of the name is Ess. From the spelling of the name you have used showes your are from John Essery born in 1744 he left Pennsylvania and migratged to Kentucky before moving on to Indiana and Illionis.
