I was just about to write you an email when I got these message board posts. I will answer some of this here for other researchers and email you with more!
This is what I can tell from what you say and what my mom says (and some research):
William T. Gibson married Malinda Frances Shields and had the following children:
Sarah B. Gibson
Thomas Jefferson Gibson (my g-grandfather)
Berthina Ann Gibson
Charles Gibson
John Wilkerson Gibson
Rovilla Gibson
Martha Gibson
James Marshall Gibson (your g-grandfather?)
Thomas Jefferson Gibson married Malissa Ann Frakes and had the following children:
Cora May Gibson
Oscar Blaine Gibson
Bertha Lee Gibson
Estella (Stella) M. Gibson
Justus Adams Gibson (my grandfather)
Elbert Jefferson Gibson
Justus Adams Gibson married Ruby Yvette Jenkins and had the following children:
Freal Justus Gibson
Paul Jenkins Gibson
Opal Ruth Gibson
Wilfred Leroy Gibson
Ralph Duane Gibson
Norma Jean Gibson
OK, now for James Marshall Gibson -- he married Dora (was her middle name Olive?) Esarey. Their Children:
Carrie Gibson (Your grandmother --a cousin to my grandfather)
Victor Gibson
Logan(?) Gibson
Carrie Gibson married Eugene Esarey.
Children:
Dwight
Clark
James
So, which one is your father. If our grandparents are cousins what does that make us? It is a stretch of the imagination to me! But my mom knew your father and your uncles and yes, Carrie was a favorite relative to her. I met Carrie once when she and my Grandmother Ruby visited us in Florida.
We will talk more via email. I don't have the Esarey book and I don't have the Gibson book you are talking about unless it is the one written by D.C. Williams (that I am in). In that book "Gibson-Bradley-Jenkins and Allied Families" written in about 1966, the ancestry and descendents for my grandfather Justus Adams Gibson and grandmother Ruby Yvette (Jenkins) Gibson are followed back to the pre-revolutionary era (and in some cases further).
Well, thanks for posting, I'll be in touch!
