Obituary: GENTRYVILLE, Ind. -- Dorothy Esarey Sandage Blackford, 81, died Monday, April 26, 1999, at St. Mary's Medicalical Center in Evansville.
She retired in 1975 from Evansville State Hospital after 33 years.
She was a 1936 graduate of Oriole High School in Perry County.
She was a member of Garrison Chapel Church, White Shrine and Daughters of the Nile.
Surviving are a daughter, Donna Cummings of English; two sisters, Dora Esarey of Canon, Colo., and Dessie Simpson of Gentryville; two brothers, Don Esarey of Pueblo, Colo., and Dale Esarey of Albuquerque, N.M.; two grandchildren, Charlie and Jeff Cummings; a great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
Her first husband, George Sandage, died in 1946 and her second husband, Alton Blackford, died in 1980.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Garrison Chapel Church, with burial in Garrison Chapel Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel, and from noon to service time at the church in Gentryville.
