Barbara McCollum:
I have this hard copy of your Ervin Lineage and decided to try respond. You gave no email, nor any dates. Very difficult to help.
You asked about "Barbara McCollum's grma Sarah Eliza Ervin mar Durry Dobson Propes, dau of Robert L Ervin & Dora Wilson, son of Andrew Campbell Ervin & Katie Presley; his sib: Meek Wilson ERvin m Annie Whitener w/4 sons, Gene, Elbert, James and Ray."
Ok my data base of over 10,000 names has an Andrew Steven Ervin br 1981 ca, whose father was Joseph Kenneth Ervin w/Cathy St Clair br ca 1948. There is no Meek Wilson Ervin. There is no Whitener listed. I have 3 Robert Lee Ervin, with none mar to Dora Wilson and none w/father, Andrew C. Ervin. Maybe you are down from Eli & Messineh who came from TN to Egypt Mills area, just north of Cape Girardeau, in Cape Co MO in early 1800's. If I could I would send you a copy or report of my Ervin line which one needs to really get to the root of connecting Ervins.
Do you have Pat Ervin Trask on Ervin line from Moore/Lincoln Co TN, so Tennessee. This is our line and it runs in my line like this: Hezekiah Ervin from NC to LincolnCo TN at Lynchburg, w/Ervin Settlement (married heavily into Simmons and Wiseman), had every occupation possible to have the town w/blacksmiths, grocery, farmer, distillery, bakers, barbers etc. my grandpa Ervin was a barber for awhile in Perkins, MO Scott Co MO when he had my mom in 1914. Lynchburg is still there with County Line Bap Ch and Cem just out of Lynchburg...and I find Co Line Bap Churches along their path migrating. Some were preachers. Where they moved to Cape Co MO there is a County Line Bap Ch onI believe it is Hi 34 near Bollinger, Scott, Stoddard, Cape etc counties there in MO. Then one of the lady Ervin married a Lewis or Louis Simmons and he migrated to So IL to Johnson Co IL area and this line is in Johnson Co Il History as a bio. I wrote and told the hist soc there that they or the people just did not know, but mispelled the name from Ervin to Erving. Mispelling are frequent and the younger ones just did not know and aren't connecting. Sincerely Frankie
