James S. Erven
ZANESVILLE: James S. Erven 96 of Zanesville, Ohio passed away on Sunday July 27, 2014.
He was born in Cambridge, Ohio (Guernsey County) on September 30, 1917 to the late James Otis Erven and Alice May Birkheimer Erven.
He Graduated from Zanesville Lash High School in 1936, where he was the Captain of the Basketball Team his senior year.
He attended Muskingum College and worked for Hazel Atlas Glass.
In 1942 he joined the US Navy and retired in 1972 as Commander in Naval Intelligence.
In 1945 he married Ruby LeHuguet and was married for 63 years prior to her death in 2008.
After retirement they moved to Seattle and had a career in real estate and development.
In 1995 he moved to Sun City, Arizona where he lived until 2011 when he returned to Zanesville, Ohio and resided at Emeritus at North Hills.
He is survived by nephews James P. (Patricia) Erven of Apollo Beach, Florida and Robert (Cheryl) Hoff of Sebring, Ohio; six great nieces and nephews, and 12 great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a brother Delno Erven and a niece Sharon Erven Hoff.
